Is there a way to disable the seat belt chime? Or show me where the speaker is.

Thanks guys.
My other car(ford) had that info in the owners manual. Mazda on the other hand hasn't posted such info. Being there isn't any way I can convince you to wear it, i'll just say always leave it buckled in place. When My seatbelt failed to release a few times and displayed the seat belt light, I never got a tone for the duration of the drive. What does it sound like?

LOL...that is the most annoying chime! I hate how it speeds up if you don't put your belt on right away. I always were my belt...but I was just going around the block to check something and it wouldn't stop!

I got mine disabled by my dealer while it was in for the reflash a couple months ago. I had asked before and they wouldn't do it for me citing "liability concerns", even after pointing out the text in the manual saying "consult an authorized mazda dealer to deactivate and restore the seat belt minder". Next time I was in I made sure to get a different service advisor and asked again. He said they could disable it for $90. I mentioned to him that while the car was hooked up for the reflash all they needed to do was select/deselect a radio button in the software and that I wasn't worried about it to the tune of $90. When I got the car back, he mentioned he didn't realize how easy it was to do and had the technician disable it for me at no cost. Kept me happy and kept my business. That was probably going to be my last visit to that dealer had he not done that. That minder was driving me insane at drive throughs. Take off your seatbelt before you stop and you have to put it back on and take it back off to shut it up? WTF!?

It was my understanding Mazda Dealers will do this once free of charge. I think I saw this in the Mazda 5 forums.

Found it @ 6 Tech
TSB: 08-005/05

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2005 Mazda6

DESCRIPTION
The seat belt minder is a supplemental warning to the seat belt warning function established for North American specification Mazda6 vehicles. This feature provides an additional reminder to the driver that the drivers seat belt is not fastened, by intermittently emitting a beep sound and flashing the seat belt warning light in the instrument cluster.

The seat belt minder can be deactivated either temporarily or over the long-term, and can be restored again if the customer wishes. The following information has been added to the Owners Manual:

Refer to the Repair Procedure for customers requesting Temporary or Long-Term Deactivation of the seat belt minder function.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

TEMPORARY DEACTIVATION
To temporarily deactivate belt minder:

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2. Fasten drivers seat belt for approx. 2 seconds.
3. Unfasten drivers seat belt within 20 seconds.
NOTE: Belt minder will be deactivated temporarily until next time ignition switch is turned to ON position.

LONG-TERM DEACTIVATION
To deactivate belt minder long-term, instrument cluster configuration will be changed using WDS. If belt minder is deactivated long-term, it will remain deactivation until it is restored using WDS. (This requires a dealer visit)

NOTE: Long-term deactivation cannot be canceled by turning ignition switch to OFF/ON or by disconnecting battery.
Mazda6tech and msprotege.com is not responsible for your death, or the death of other individuals in your vehicle due to your inability to fasten your seatbelt.

I am not so much interested in disabling the seat belt chime as I am the door chime. I know there is a way to do it for the protege as I did it on mine, but I have yet to see if there is a way to do it on the Speed 6.

Anybody?

reflash is when you (or dealer for mazda sake) alter the factory settings for the electrical computer stuff. Reflashes could be to update glitches in the system or in this case stop the seatbelt warning from going iff if you decided to drive w/o it buckled. The system mazda uses in this case is WDS. If nobody gets you the info on what wds stood for, I'll dig up my old pdf files for it.

Are you refering to the disconection of a specific pin from behind the gauge cluster?
