My GF and I recently moved into an apartment complex... Her window was shattered and everything stolen out of her vehicle while parked in the apartment... My SPEED6 has had the alarm set off several times however I am unable to hear it as the closest parking they assigned us Is extremely far away.... This morning I went out.. my alarm had been set off... and I have a dent in my hood with a red mark....

Our A/C has not function sinced we moved in... The carpets were dirty when we moved in... the tub had dead bugs in it.... and the walls were painted with at least 5-6 coats and everything sticks to eachother... (doors and such)....

I need to know what My options are as far as either A) getting us out of this place and the lease agreement... B) having my vehicle repaired and / or some form of protection for my property...

People better not take this as "racist" however my GF does not feel safe walking around or going to her vehicle here as there are bands of mexican HS aged kids hovering around the sidewalks and vehicles in the area... They stare and make comments to her as she walks around and by....

Her's was the only vehicle that was stolen from in the complex... and now mine has also been damaged.... There has to be something we can do about our vehicles beeing vandalized... AND our apartment in such poor condition....

Sounds like you need to move.

First sorry for the s*** thats been happening to you. That sucks.

Take it up with the apt. management. Let them know whats going on and also you shouldve did a walk through with the manager before you moved in. I know now, to do the walk through with the manager to make sure that the apt was clean.

To get out of the lease, you'll typically have to pay a couple m onths' rent as a cancellation fee. DO IT.

Get out of there NOW. No offense, but what are you even thinking moving into an apartment complex with no garage? My P5 is garaged 24/7 at my apartment complex. I pay $75 more, but it's already been saved once from a round of theft that nailed 3 cars and stole 2 head units, 1 radar detector, and 1 GPS unit.

Find a new place to live ASAP. That or DEMAND that a parking spot be found closer to your apartment - within view of your window.

I have to agree.
Its a universal truth that nice car + bad Neighborhood = bad idea

Realisticly, if you can only afford an apartment in this type of area then you have no buisness having a 30K car. Afterall, is you or your wife's safety really worth it?

If I were you I would be hunting through that lease document for a way out. Anything that states an obligation that the landlord has not furfilled.

Perhaps you could lease a nice town house in the area or something like that.

I live in north bay area.. SF Cali.... THERE ARE NO PLACES with a ******* washer / dryer.. let alone a garage.... NO WHERE....

It is a long story as to why I couldn't see the place myself when I moved across states to get here... however someone did check it out for me... and they said it was ok.... which again.. is another long story about why they were a terrible judge...

San Fran is the single worst place to live in the country.. at least that i've visited... it costs SOOO Much to live here.. and its complete trash... But I have no choice right now...

I just need to find a way out of my lease... and we already have a few other places.. that are a bit more... but much better...

We have requested a copy of our lease... will read it over... and go from there... Considering her's and mine are the only 2 vehicles damaged recently... that have been reported... and we are next to the only "white" people in the area.... I feel "targeted"

I noticed a lot of hispanics in the area ... But at first I assumed they would be no worse than the white trash groups from where I came.. guess I was wrong... Now... I don't know it WAS them who did my vehicle or her's.... only that they are the ones making comments to her.... Which... she and I can live with....

I CANNOT LIVE WITH.. my ****** car being damaged...

I hate to say this man but you may need a change of scenery.. Is there really anything keeping you in cali? I recently moved from Philly, PA to CT for that specific reason. Best decision I ever made. Philly is a real trashy city, flat out. I'm sure its worse than frisco.

I am an hour + from you. It would be cheaper and safer if you moved closer to the Sacramento Valley.....

2 options:

1. Move
2. Get a tan and a beater car

If you are interested in moving, to a serious degree, let me know and I can help you with jobs in this area. I know alot of people in various trade industries and such are dying for good people out here. Plus its relatively cheap to live compared to areas like yours.

For example I purchased a very nice 1700 sq ft house on 2 acres for less then $270K in Feburary. I am in an area only 20 minutes from the two largest cities in NH but it is perfectly quiet and safe where I am.

45 minutes south of me, the same house would be over $400k.

Wow... Are prices really that high in NH now?? I grew up there (Sunapee) and always thought I'd be able to go back some day. Just bought a house on Long Island two years ago for a little more than you paid. Of course, it's only on a plot 100x150 and we bought the worst house in a very nice neighborhood, but there ya go...

I was totally in your shoes a few years ago Xtreme... It was either get an affordable apartment in a terrible area, or get one we couldn't really afford in a decent, professionally-owned development. It's surprising what you can afford when you really take a look at your own safety and realize that if you have a $1000 deductable on your car, you just could've spent $100 more a month on rent for the year instead.

Just remember whatever you're into doesn't have to be forever, and you can keep your eyes open to new opportunities. As so many here have said, your first step is to do anything you can do to get the hell out of there. If your personal safety and the integrity of your home is at risk, it impacts every area of your daily life.

Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Both are cars are garaged. The Mazda 6 got vandalised twice in 30 days over two months here being parked outside, almost 2 years ago. And this is suppose to be a safe neighborhood. It's just that ppl especially young teens have no respect for nothing or no one anymore.

A public garage vs a private garage is VERY different.

I had my neighbor accidently vandilize my LX car with his hose once (took forever to pecie that one together)
But all of my other cars always slept soundly in my own garage. no problems there.

Yeah it went crazy here within 4 years.
Back then, the people that had my town house before me bought it for $160K and sold it to me for $188K. 2 years later I sold it for $226K.
That was a 1800 sq ft town house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms, a private garage, and it was an end unit on a dead end street surrounded by woods. That was in Nashua.

I am now up on Mont Vernon (not Mount) which is basicly the sticks but still within 20 minutes of Nashua and Manchester. All things considered the price we paid was REALLY low for the market. The sellers had been sitting on 2 mortgages for 8 months and had no savings or retirement money left. The house was listed at $299K originaly before things took a dip. 2 Acres uncleared in towns like Mason and Greenfield are in the $100K+ range.

Southern NH took off when Mass went to the level of insanity that California is. Boston and Cambridge just came in as #10, and #5 for the most over priced places to live in the country. So a TON of people are comming to live in NH but commute to the boston area. Up north in places like Littleton my house and land would probably be 1/2 of what I paid.
