My belt going to the alternator and water pump snapped the other day. I took off the air conditioning belt o get it out of the way but when i try to adjust the alternator tensioner so I can put the new belt on I it doesn't do anything. and if I need to adjust the alternator bracket how do I get to them. everything is in the way, I already cut the sit out of my hand trying to get in there. so help need advice or a site that knows the answer

I know I had trouble with one of the adjusters. Keep in mind that you need to loosen, the tensioner, the tensioner holder bolt and the bottom bolt otherwise it won't move. The same goes for the other belt tensioner.

I know it's a hassle but it may be easier to get to the alternator adjuster from under the car. It is doable from above but it's an arm scratcher if not careful.

I got at that alternator pivot bolt from underneath. Put her up on some ramps , it's much easier.

You need to losen the 2 circled bolts in the pic below before the alt will budge at all. The bottom bolt is easy to get to from under the car, the top bolt you can get to from above along with the tensioner bolt.

Make sure to tighten this belt correctly otherwise you'll get a squealing belt. I had a belt squealing on mine and it would only happen when the AC came on so I figured it was the ac/ps belt. After months of trying to tighten that correctly I realized it was actually the alt belt causing the squeal.

i did this just last week.
jack it up, or ramp it up and get that last bolt on the bottom.
then loosen the alternator as much as possible and it should just slip on pretty easy.
