I come to the mazda experts not the mazda dealerships cause they dont care..i have a 2001 mazda mp3 recently i took it to a dealership to run a diagnostic test cause when driving on the highway my car will all the sudden loose all its pickup and baug down real bad, they told me since i have an after market air intake they couldnt be precise but it was throwing a 3rd ignition coil and a cat. converter code, replaced 3rd coil and 2nd cat. and still is doing the same thing. i am not to savy with this (wish i was) can anyone help!!

I live in upstate NY also, if anyone is near i would pay to have them look at it,

is it still throwing out those codes with the replaced parts? if not, what codes is it throwing out now?

Yep it is still throwing those codes. Does anyone recommend taking it back to the dealership to have them figure out the problem?

Replace your EGR. I had the same problem. It was "fixed" at a local shop that just replaced the EGR and a gasket that it blew. Then a week later it started having the same problem. Took it to the mazda dealership. Replaced the coil packs, spark plugs, EGR and gasket, and the first cat.

I'd recommend NOT driving on it too much if not driving it at all. Your cat isnt pushing out the Exhaust thats why it is probably glowing orange (mine did) and if you drive on it too much it'll put the cat into meltdown and trash your whole exhaust.

If the only thing that isnt stock on your car is the intake then just buy an OEM one. I've got one i'll let go for 30 bucks.

hi what kind of intake do you have for sale and also does anyone know were i can buy the first cat for this thing!

I just have the stock MP3 intake assembly that I ripped out when I bought my SRI and my dad has been nagging me to get rid of that Stock intake.
You dont have the first cat or do you have an aftermarket header or something? You might be able to find a used stock pre-cat on ebay or possibly search the FS section for one.

You might want to get the number for mazda usa by going to mazdausa.com. I'm almost positive that emissions components are replaced free of charge. Find out for sure though.
