need block for p5

i just found out that my block is cracked and i need to either get a new one or get it sleeved. i was wondering if anyone could tell me my options

how in the hell did you crack the block? Freeze, connecting rod??, I work for a machine shop, and one of the possibilities that you are looking at is find a machine shop that could weld it. I know we have welded cast iron Ford big blocks that a customer salvages from nascar. Just my .02. Any good reputible machine shop with the proper equipment should be able to do it.

i don't know exactly how i cracked it, i had used nitrous, and this is the second time i shattered part of a piston. the thing is the guys at my shop are saying it is cracked, but it doesn't looked cracked. i don't have a picture, but it is about 4 inches long, and it doesn't just go straight up and down, it varies slightly from a straight line. what do you mean by weld it? its not a very big crack, maybe like the width of the wire from a paper clip and the same on depth and i didn't freeze a connecting rod or anything, just shattered part of a piston. i shut the car down as soon as i knew something was wrong, within seconds of it happening. what i think it might be if not a crack, it could have been from the large chunks of piston that were flying around for a few seconds

Where exactly is it cracked. Is it inside the bore or is it on the external part of the block. I know that we weld aluminum and cast iron. The aluminum is usually cylinder heads that have had almost the same thing happen, except they break a valve, a screw or something falls in the intake, or what have you and the people drive it like that just thinking it is some kind of a rattle then decide to tear apart the motor after the damage is done. The piece of trash (metal) beats on the aluminum cracking it/and or scarring it deeply, sometimes into the water jacket. We weld and repair this, and we actually have a warranty on it. 6 months unlimited miles. What we warranty all of our cylinder heads at. As for the block, if it is just in the bore it is possible to re-sleeve it, unless it isnt inside the bore, then it will have to be welded and or replaced. If you could get a picture or be more specific as to where it is cracked it would be very helpful.

it is inside the bore in cylinder number 1, towards the top of the cylinder, also it is towards the front of the vehicle (still in the car). its at my work right now, so i can't take a picture
