So, after only a week or two of having my new lip on my p5, I was looking at it yesterday and noticed that the paint is already cracked at both points where the "vent" thingy is on each side of the lip.

My guess is because it's urethane, when I scraped on a steep hill the lip flexed and the paint couldn't take the stress. Damn. (chair)

Any ideas on how to fix this? Do I have to repaint the entire thing? Has this happened to any of you guys? I'll try to get pics later today...

I'd be interested in answer as well....

i'll be putting my lip on in a couple weeks, and it's urethane... hope this isnt a common thing

I think at this point they need to repaint it. I'm not even sure if you can repair a stress crack on finished much less without damaging other paint in the area. I say save yourself trouble in the long run and have it repainted properly.

i don't have pics of the front but my rear valence is painted black and i figured whenever i mess up my lip (which i know will happen) instead of getting the whole thing repainted im just gunna paint the bottom half (easy there is a line on the lip to divide it) flat black

you're the one withe painted rear valence. I saw a pic of that on the forums. that's sexy...

I kinda like the white vents though...I guess I like the lowered look that the lip gives. I just don't like the actual lowering that the lip does :p

yep, u need 'flex' in the paint.

also, u cant return it to get it repainted or anything?

btw.. Can I ask.. do you know if the lip had to be adjusted/sanded to fit?
and was it new? or previously installed?

I wanted to get a lip from DG.. but am afraid it'll need too much adjustments

same thing happen to me!! From parking too close to the snow bank. But you have to be real close to see it. I'm just gonna leave it like that, cause you never know when you will scape again!
