Nav settings

my Nav unit never goes from day to night when I have it set to Auto. I have to manually change it at night when the bright screen becomes blinding. Anyone else have this issue or know if a fix? thanks

Mine only auto-switches to night when the headlights come on. I find this to be annoying on cloudy mornings, but, the day bright screen at night sounds much worse.

If the brightness knob on the gauge cluster is set to max brightness it won't go into night mode when the lights are on. Just one notch short of max brightness and it will toggle to night mode when the lights are on. Maybe that is the problem?

sure enough, that was it. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yeah its annoying on cloudy/foggy days when the headlights come on, I can't read the screen. I either have to flip it back to day mode, or just turn that knob all the way up. It gives a beep to signal its a maximum. Then at night, I have to remember to twirl it down. Too bad there isn't an ambient light sensor in the screen to detect light in the cabin. Relying on whether the headlights are on or off is way too simplistic.

Bcdad182 - I changed my Auto-Headlights to the Darkest sensitivity setting through the Vehicle settings tab and it seemed to work out better for the Nav screen. a light sensor would be better, but it is a start to make life easier... You can also force it to day like nodnerb mentioned by maxing out the brightness on the cluster.

Thanks so much Smiley81 for asking this question. I have been trying to figure this out myself and finally I have an answer. Thanks also to Nodnerb (yippy)
