The Make-A Wish Foundation charity Event is going to be held in September @ Mid-Ohio and Team Sahlen is our co-sponsor...We are going to host a Cancer Event @ Lime Rock for Dempsey Center for Cancer and Hope Research. We will probably do either Austism Speaks or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at Road America or Mazda Laguna Raceway. The Boys and Girls Club would be good, maybe a food bank, animal shelter. We all know that there a number of deserving charities out there.
My sons' Boy Scout troop will be coming down to watch on Saturday. If there's anything they can do to help in the corral as a project, they are available.
I've confirmed with NASA that my son's boy scout troop will be visiting on Saturday.
I'd like to have the Mazda group host the boys and welcome them into our corral.
The following are some of the events planned for the boys:
Merit badge http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/AdvancementandAwards/MeritBadges/mb-AUTO.aspx
An autograph session with drivers suited up.
A lunch-time ride along (Touring laps). (May need parent/guardian on-site or a release - will need to check)
NASA patches for the the kids
Possibly a kids NASA t-shirt that we can have the drivers sign.
Photos of them with drivers at our awards party.
But you have to wear long pants. I remember an instructor saying long sleaves too but it was too bloody hot so they just waived that. I'm sure Marlon, Doc, Bill or DaveB can verify the long sleaves. But certainly long pants are necessary.
NASA does require long sleeves, but they're lenient depending on the weather, in April, you'll need theloang sleeves and you do not need a driving suit. I do have a extra helmet(XL) that someone can borrow as well.
