my wife is @ mall now. she doesn't know if she should get me the 30g ipod or the 2gig nano. i'm not a HUGE music person. i will only use either for gym and car. that's it. 500 songs for me is sufficient, 7500 is just nuts. i doubt i would use the video.
-CAN U HOOK UP A NANO TO CX W/ FLEXPOD OR SOMETHING SIMILAR? if not then i'll just tell her get the regular 30gig, although i like the looks/size of nano better. the deciding factor for me is wheather or not the nano can hook up to CX just like a regular ipod, using flexpod or something similar...

Unless you want to watch video or you're unable to sync with your computer for an extended amount of time, getting the far too bulky full-size ipod makes no sense. I'd get either the 4 or the 8gb nano. Since they're flash based (no moving parts like the bigger versions) you can workout with it and not have to worry about it breaking. Also, as far as your workouts go... who needs to have a gigantic brick strapped to them when they workout? I barely even notice my nano so it's perfect for that.

If you're looking for an armband... this is the best one on the market.

You should also consider the invisible shield for the screen and body. (they sratch easily) http://www.shieldzone.com/category/ipods/

i like both but i just checked my online acount balance and see she bought the 30g. like i said i'm not crazy into music but i know how i am....i'll be a downloading mofo...! as far as size, yeah the nano better for working out, but w/ the 30g, it's not crazy big, and i always wear baggy sweatpants or cargos, both w/ big pockets, so i think i'll be ok, and now i can get the flexpod and hook up to the CX(ughdance)

Well, there's a size difference, but it's not like carrying around or comparing a pack of cigarettes vs. a stick of gum or anything, LOL. It's really not a HUGE difference (in my opinion).

But capacity wise it is. We carry around our entire library with us and it's awesome to be able to do, and I'm not one to have to always be adjusting playlists to decide what songs I want to take and what ones I don't. I bought my husband an 80 gig for x-mas. :)

I got my mom a 60gb ipod last year for xmas. She's clueless when it comes to computers and, even after I tried to explaing syncing, DL'ing & creating playlists... she still didn't get it. Those monsters are perfect for people like her. After spending hours taking all of her CDs and putting them on the ipod, she's pretty much good. Unlike me, she doesn't get bored with old music and doesn't have a constant need to download the latest songs. Since I do, it's sort of essential to redo my playlists anyway. Plus, with the minimal time I use it during the day (it's basically just for the gym) the chance of listening to the old stuff is slim. I even feel 4gb is too much. I had a 512mb rio and it had plenty of storage for my needs.

Since I have a 20gb ipod, I'm familar with the size. I had an armband for that thing but I felt like a complete ass wearing it. the nano on the other hand is so small I barely even know I have it. This is especially important if you run. I see people running with their regular ipods all the time... it's just a matter of time before those things s*** the bed. its' basically like comparing a treo to a krzr phone. one's got all the bells and whistles (many of which most will never take advantage of) and the other gets the job done... and looks kick ass.

but hey... either way you're good. just make sure you get yourself that invisible shield. ipods, more than any other mp3 device, are severely scratch prone. The IS will keep it looking brand new forever.
