Gosh why are all the n/a protege have no power....I think mazda just wasn't thinking about power in these vehicles...![]()
even with corrected numbers, you'll still read lower than if you were to dyno at sea level.
Here's my dyno sheet before pullies. I had at the time, motor mounts, CAI, shorty header, magnaflow custom catback
another thing i don't understand is how there's cars out there that are have more hp but, i can still take them. by that i mean my buddies celica gt is so much lighter than my car and we had the same mods, and their car is rated at 130 i think and i was still taking him, as well as my buddies wolfsburg jetta stock i took him up til 3rd gear and his little snail kicked in. just a thought. i hate the thought of the numbers.
And shorty headers dont' do you any good unless you're in a state with smog testing. The first catalytic converter is your biggest bottleneck.
It's not always the ultimate number that is the telling factor. The shape of the curves are also just as important as the total numbers. For example, if your HP curve stays low and then peaks late, you might be slower than someone with a less powerful car that makes power earlier on.
And it could just be the driver too.......
77whp thats sadYeah, I've been looking into getting a different exhaust header/midpipe combo. I know the shorty header doesn't really do anything for flow, but it sure looks sweet with the sterling ceramic coating. Also, the magnaflow and racing beat mufflers are pretty much the same, but the racing beat is a smaller diameter. I plan to go 2 1/4 inch all the way back and that's what the custom piping is. I originally had it on my 00 ES, but took it off when I sold the car.
As for the corrected/uncorrected HP. Yeah, dyno dynamics is closer to real and will read lower than others. My uncorrected (what I actually put down at 6050 feet above sea level is 77.4 Hp. RIDICULOUS! But I raced an SRT-4 at the track and had him in the 1/8th mile. I had a better reaction time and was a tenth behind him in the eigth. Then his turbo really kicked in and he whooped me by 2 seconds in the 1/4. So that could also explain why you're beating the celica/jetta.
77whp thats sad
srry guys but trust me from knowing from experience. You just can not produce any power from a n/a protege motor. Just not going to happen. Sure a few people have spent 5 grand and managed to produce 180-200whp, but lets face it, those are low numbers. N/A=waste of time
