Just got my CX-7 at New Year's...

I'm new to the whole modification scene...

I want to "upgrade" the performance of my CX-7 to make the most of it...

I've been reading about cold-air intake, exhaust systems, air filters, turbo timers, chips / programmers / modules, etc...

I don't know where to start with what to do as I am unfamiliar with all these car technologies in general...

Where does one start in terms of performance modding?

The CAI and exhaust sounds great, especially in terms of potential horsepower gains... The programming / "chipping" of the car sounds great too (as a few of co-workers have done this to their turbo-equipped cars and have seen massive performance improvements) too... Protecting my turbo with a timer sounds like a good idea too...

But where do I begin? In terms of minimizing the risk of damage to the car, is there an "order" to which goes on first and then next and so on?

I want more performance out of my CX-7 as it seems to be able to handle it... I also don't want to kill my new car...;)

Any help / advice / info is much appreciated...

Thanks!

check in www.cp-e.com they have a cai and a bov kit for the cx-7 and corksport is in the making of exhaust, downpipe and more(i forgot what else LOL)

i kinda wish i could trade my MSP for a black on black cx7 lower it, rims tint, and performance stuffs.

What exactly does the blow-off valve do...? (I know it says what it does but I'm looking for n00b-terminology...;))

Is it just a replacement for a valve already there...?

Just be aware that it is easy to void your waraanty. I would wait untill 5,000 miles before doing anything that effects the engine. JMO
