My turn...LSD took a big crap.

Phew, you guys beat me to it...I was gonna say "Hey, it's probably in inch/lbs".

Jesus, Custom...you just can't catch a break. If you're still having issues when I'm done with what I'm doing (won't be done for a month), I can come up and give you a hand. LMK.

The damn bolt on the Center Section side of the turbo keeps on unscrewing itself. Now that it's tight it sure does spool a lot faster, but still sounds like s*** at part throttle and running rich. Could the O2 sensor become contaminated with dirt while it was out of the manifold? I did cover it up and all. Also, I can tell I have a leak somewhere, because if I go WOT while crusing the boost will spike to like 9psi...without any BCs attached! the gate is set to about 6psi right now. I did check all the exhaust mani bolts and all are tight.

A little update if anybody cares. Car is running very well now for some reason...I'm getting about 375mi per tank and it's pulling strong.

I'm thinking of just going back to the stock pressure plate. I'm still not satisfied with the Spec pressure plate, because it doesn't grab like the stock one did. Will I need to resurface the stock pressure plate, or just clean it up and slap it on?

Thanks.

you are missing a piece.

There should be a piece that goes under the lock nut and then has a rod that goes through the holes in the shift fork and braces against the casing.

Ah, I saw the hole that I hadn't seen before. I'm used to seeing the earlier model G series boxes. I'd love to get my hands on one of them boxes to see what other changes they have made.

How about the other shaft...shouldn't there be a spacer as well like on yours? How the hell is the tranny working with missing pieces?

Thanks.

There should be a collar on the other shaft that is like 2" long... and that is what the nut tightens down against.... you don't have that either?? I can't tell from the pic...

Missing that secondary part on the one side isn't the end of the world as far as function, but I'm sure it serves an important purpose of some sort... the spacer would be more concerning for me...

No spacer either. Do you think the MSP trannys did not come with those? Because I can see the indentations for the locks on the nuts on the shafts themselves. If not, then Nick ****** up again! I've got a whole book already on how Nick ****** me over this one simple tranny job that I'm getting ready to reveal to everybody pretty soon in hope that nobody else gets burned like I did.

Haze,

Yea I was surprised as well. All of the sudden the car started giving me great mpg. I think the ECU took time to adjust to all the porting I did last time around.

Later!

Damn man didn't realize you were having such a problem with him, maybe he is better working with installs on the MPI the tranny work....

There is no rod you are missing. Nor is there spacers under the nuts. Everything looks normal in that pic.

I beg to differ... see below.

You have an old style transmission. We have a new style. I have done both, again, I see nothing wrong with that picture.

Though I can't remember how far out the plastic piece goes...I think yours looks normal.

So either there is some serious differences between the tranny in the MP3's and the MSP's, or there is something up with Custom's tranny. And since we all are supposed to have the same tranny in theory. But I do remember that there was talk of the MP3's having a G5 tranny while everyone else had a G15 or something to that effect.

Then there you go... but to me his tranny is "missing" pieces... as the two I've taken apart were both MP3 trannies, and obviously they made some changes without changing the notation for the transmission. Looks like cost savings maneuvers to me....

The black plastic piece has to reach the black end cap... at least that is what my does/was intended to do..
