"My take on the intakes"

Here, my answer to a question that has been in my mind for months now. (and I assume I speak for others as well in saying that)

BOMZ Ebay SRI vs. Injen CAI????

Well, I had the Bomz, and installed the injen today.

Upon first impression, I felt that the ebay intake had less research in it. They basically put the basic materials in a bag and called it a kit for your car.

The injen is a bit more thought out. The fittings fit just a little nicer, and the clamps are better, and the mounting bracket is built on the second pipe.

The reason I got an intake in the first place is the sound. It was time to ditch the little four cylinder honda sound I'd heard all my life on my parents car.

That said, the Bomz wins hands down. The sound is a lower frequency, and "gurlgles" considerably more IMO.
The Injen is more of a professional sound, which in this case sounds more like rice to me. And it is substantially quieter.

Looks? Well, thats up to you. I personally like seeing the SRI's filter in the engine bay, but some like the extended chrome pipe. If I weren't so lazy, I'da painted the sky blue fittings that came with the bomz to match the car, and it would've won in the looks contest as well.

As far as performance goes I barely saw any gains at all. The sound pretty much goes straight to your head and makes you think your going faster anyway. But, there was a slight boost in the injen, from about 3-5k rmps. It seems to pull just a tiny bit harder and longer.

In the end? Which would I get?

EBAY!

I see no point at all spenind the additional $200+ in getting the injen.

The ebay intake is a little less thought out, but with a little creativity, I think it makes the better match for me.

With that said, from what I've heard, I'd go ahead and change the filter on either one of the intakes, as I've heard both seem to collect dust.....with the ebay one being a bigger dust sucker?
Although there was no apparent grime in my intake tubing or the throttle body today when I removed it.

Sorry if my post isn't scientific enough, as I don't know my s***. I'm just trying to help the bums like me figure out which intake is the one to get. and again, it's definetly not worth the extra money to upgrade.

:)
