My Spool Intake install

....Also there were nuts welded onto the back of the stock bracket that limited it positioning. [/B]
If you hadnt of made that bracket, I'd suggest drilling out those nuts like I did but I like your setup... Good job!

any louder and it will get you some poon tang?
just kidding?

lol yea right - Actually with the car waxed up nice it does turn heads.

t3ase - I posted while you were.

Thanks, I actually grinded off one of the nuts off the back but it still stuck out far. Spool said the 2003 and 2003.5 was a tiny different with the coolent tank relocator...not sure how. I dicked with the stock bracket for some time and I just couldn't get it right.

I think it was Jerry I talked to and he asked the colr and said yea we have to send you a new, different bracket....I just said forget it I'll work on it long and have something done. I mean it's not that hard, it's just that stock bracket just didn't fit anywhere nice.

The only thing is...who wants to spend $230 for an intake that makes minor changes in power and sound, and minor cosmetic changes (ie: you have to open the hood to notice a different pipe than stock, and the filter is hidden in the fender). Don't get me wrong, I really want to get my hands on a filter, I never use the stock air box, I hate that I am using it now. I spent $150 on my last intake though, so they have to offer better prices on these, before it will be worth it for me. Otherwise, I will just keep my eye out for a deal like this lucky dude got. Good eye man! I wish I would have beaten you to this one though. I must be slackin'!!
If anybody knows of anyone selling an intake for the 03.5 MSP, let me know please!

If you want just an extension, like my setup, I still have about 3/4 of the old intake tubing that I may be able to play with to get to work. If not, I'm sure I can find something that'll work.

nictlg7 - exactly, over 200 hundred is just too much. keep an eye out in the for sale section of the forum....that's what I did.

You do not need to drill a hole. I have my temp sensor laying here.

It's between the FUSE box and shock tower.

Are you sure you don't need to relcoate the IAT sensor? :)

I pretty sure the whole point of the CAI being located down into the fenderwell is because the air is cooler, thus it is cooler than the air inside the engine bay. If you are sucking in cooler air from the fenderwell, but your IAT sensor is registering the warmer air of the engine bay, then your ECU is not properly adjusting for the cooler air.

Just my .02 CDN :)

I don't know, you may be right. Any help here people?
I emailed Spool about this.

does the temp sensor have enough slack to stick in the fender well hole? if it does then just stick it in there, and it will be used to the colder air. i tried installing my spool intake today. i guess my coolant tank is different from everyone elses because there is only one hole to screw into. i just used the bracket the provided me and toyed around a bit, it worked out fine. the thing i am stuck on is installing the filter.

well, i tried removing the mud guard in wheel well. i can only remove 3 of those little plastic screw type things, and only pry a little off. its hard to remove the other plastic screws..i am afraid i am going to break it.

Dude go for it, they are easy to pop out. First turn the "screw" then the middle portion will pop out. Then if you have to, use a flat head screw driver and just pry out the female part. Real easy. Seriously, plus even if you do break one, they are cheap from the dealer. Just go for it. They are not that brittle. There are 3 screws also, one in the ground effect, and two closer up front....

well, i took out 3. i dont think i can pry the mudguard out enough by just taking out 3? do i need to take out the one closer to the top of the wheel well?

Take them all out from the top of the fender well all the way to the front of the car...I think it's in the neighborhood of 8....maybe more. Dude just go for it, it's easy.

alright. its hard to twist the top one because my screwdriver cannot turn it. the wheel is in the way. ill check it out tomorrow. thanks for info.
