My Speed got stolen last night........

I do however have an anit-theft device that will not fail for the MSP. A boost controller tied to the security system that you can set to 20psi when you get out of the car. The fools wouldn't make it halfway down the road before rods where flying out of the engine. It would cause a little damage, but insurance would hopefully cover the cost of a new built engine :) Oh well.

My drivers side lock is messed up too. It's loose and makes a bit of rattleing. I guess I'll have to take off the side panel inside and screw it back on. Taking it to the dealer is just asking for trouble. I'm sure they will make it worse.

If you're car is stolen and the thieves are local to the area, chances are, you will have your car recovered in about two days. My dept usually gets the vehicle back within that frame time and sometimes the vehicles are found one or two cities over. Not usually further than about a 25-50 mile radius. If they ARE professionals, you won't be seeing that car any time soon and they will either part it out or send it to the black market. If you live near a port, that it is just one way to quickly get rid of the evidence. It may be out to sea somewhere by now. Hopefully not. Let's hope that if you havent gotten it back already, that the crook was dumb enough to commit another crime with it and get caught. That also happens pretty often.

damn, sorry to hear that. yeah, if the car is not back by next week, it's parts are probably for sale on e-bay, or in some country, sorry. that's why when I get my next car, I'll be putting all kinds of security devices.

a switch in the fuel pump power line is quite effective.....not that I would have that done on my vehicle.....

sorry about the loss man

but honestly if i was you i would hope they dont find it .. trust me if they do youll have more probs fixing it replacing parts and all that bulls*** .. on top of all that you'll be stuck with a car that you know was busted/carshed or whatever .. its like knowing that ur girl cheated on you but not being able to break up .. (hopefully that doesnt happen)

anyways the positive side is when insurance pays up you'll get a nice check, definatelly more then if you sold it on the street, you'll save some on depreciation, and you'll get reimbursted for tax on your new purchase ... all in all its a sweat deal

when my car got stolen last year i was pissed for about 3 days .. then i realized what im getting .. now i wouldnt mind to list my car up for theft again .. the blue book value for my p5 is still about a grand higher then what i paid for it last year .. maybe that was just lucky

if you like the speed so much then i bet you'll end up with a brand new car and maybe some money left over .. so thats not a bad deal

the only time you can really loose though if your insurance undervalues the car based on high mileage for example. also any custom s*** we'll be greatly depreciated in their valuation

Well I always feared this might happen to my beloved speed someday....It's just too much of a nice car not to attract the attention of sh!theads out there.

I was always dilligent with parking it in clear, high-traffic, well-lit areas. I always put my double pronged steering wheel club on it. I always pulled out the Kenwood's face plate. Well my paranoia was well justified cause it seems that when thieves want it badly enough....

I was at a local titty bar celebrating a friend's stag party, and when we left and went into the bar's parking lot, an old Buick was parked in the spot where my Speed SHOULD have been. I was like WTF!!!!!!

At first you don't want to believe it. I told myself maybe I simply parked a bit further away and can't quite remember....But after visually inspecting every freaking car in the place about a dozen times - even zapping each one with my key fob and reading all the licence plates for good measure - no sign of it. Now panic starts to set in. "Please, oh PLEASE! God let it be here somewhere. Tell me this did not happen!"(nervous)

So my buddies start looking around the ground in the area where it had been for broken glass and such...and one of them pulls up the confirmation - a broken Titanium Grey door lock assembly - right by a rather nasty rubber peel-out mark! Seems they yanked the whole lock right out of the door with a screwdriver or sometin (Note to Mazda: Those things don't look particularly sturdy BTW)

AHhhhh! F&&&&ck!!!!!!!:mad:

My friends tried to console me by saying "WTF do you care - it's insured - you'll get a new car now!"

Yeah, but dammit - I REALLY liked this car! I spent a lot of time and effort researching this particular purchase. And they only made so many of them. I might NOT be able to get another one, and there's not much else out there that I care for....and can afford.

Even if it's found...not sure I'd want it back in the condition those morons are likely to leave it in.

It just plain sucks......:'(
i had the same thing happen to me ...

went to parking lot where i parked, and it wasnt there..friend's car was still there that was parked next to me

except, i got lucky...at the end of the parking lot, ther was a tow truck, with mine on the back ...... (guess i shouldnt have parked there) ....luckily, he was nice enough to let me go...friend hightailed his car out though ...

Kill switch is easy cut a line to a source necessary for the engine to fire up, spark or fuel. Put a switch in line. Better yet pop your hood unplug your cam angle sensor and the would be thief would be sitting there like WTF! Learned this trick from LinuxRacr.

Yea pwn3d the system. Replaced motor mounts, refinished my scratched wheels, got all the missing bolts ordered all OEM, tore apart the gear box again to make sure stuff was in place, its a new revised LSD as posted in other threads. Only s*** still bad is a missing harness clip holding the neutral sensing switch cable to a bracket on the trans housing. I really dont want to go back to get a stupid plastic clip. Made the tech look like an ass b/c I pointed out all the **** ups he did. Regional rep saw it and got on the ball and did somethin bout it this time. Kinda sad when you know more than the tech does. If it breaks again, ill get a quaife. Never going to the dealer for s*** again!

problem with even kill switches is, no one thinks twice about seeing a car gettin picked up by a tow truck... like a repo truck... takes 2 seconds to steal that way. when i had an accident, my friend had my car up on his truck before the cop could even ask if i knew the guy!!!
in a case like that, the only thing that would work is lojack with a mercury switch.
if one end of the car is picked up higher than the other (triggering the switch) the alarm goes off.

people suck!

problem i see with that, is that lojack runs based on cellular, which all it would take is for you to take it to somewhere where cell phones dont work, aka under bridges, out in the desert, etc .....

I know a certain forum member that had a high-dollar system that called your cell phone if something went wrong. That system would kick ass!
