Well its been just over a month and close to 700 miles now with my new Mazda and am still extremely pleased with my choice. I had been looking for a new car for about 2 years (<––crazy person I know lol) and was really hoping the new 6 wagon would make it here. If it had I would have been driving that long ago. But as it is I'm happy with the 3 since it has the same engine but in an even lighter car that fits easier around the city. So far with 98% city driving my average mpg shows 27.8.
I still have the door frame rattle but it isn't annoying enough to need immediate attention, whenever the next time I need to take it in I'll have it looked at.
One thing that is different from my old car is when the brakes are cold they are extremely grabby. It is very difficult the first minute of driving not to have the brakes slamming on. I'm learning my feet to be more delicate during that period but sometimes I forget and I must look like a beginning driver with the car diving into stops. Even when the brakes are up to temp they still aren't as linear and good feeling as my old car and on rare occasions it still dives into a stop. I wonder if the Brake Assist is getting too aggressive.
I still get a little giddy with how great the headlights are too. Now that half my driving is in the dark my appreciation for them has grown and can't imagine owning a car that doesn't have these type of lights. I've turned off the foglights since I can't tell any difference when they are on.
I got to test city highway slogging yesterday and liked how the car can putter along just a few mph without having to ride the brakes. My old car liked to idle up to at least 10-15mph when warm, and when cold it would be happy to get up into second gear and 25mph without touching the gas.
