My new winter beater...

I had the extreme luck of finding myself one kick ass winter beater. My brother is a route manager for Interstate Batteries, and one of his customers had a 1990 Proteg GT with 280,000km(175,000miles). It was some chicks car, and had enough wrong with it that she didn't want it anymore, so I called him up and offered him $500. So here it is. My new winter beater. Its tires were junk, needs a new midpipe, new window master switch, new parking brake cable, new front passenger corner light and a good detail. I already have the winter rims/tires(Escort GT rims on Kumho snows) and corner light, and I'm already driving it. It also needs new door locks, as it seems someone has broken into it in the past. It has unpainted bumpers and rust on the sunroof, so I think I'm going to have the locks shaved and just install an alarm with keyless entry. It actually seems to run very well, and I think I got a good score. The interior is MINT, which for a GT is awesome, because the interior is kick ass.............

I know it doesn't have a whole lot to do with NA Tech, but the guys in this section are the only ones who'd give a rat's ass.

...and to boot, it compliments your daily very nicely. Now your plan should be to get this one up to par to use as the daily driver and go full race prep on your other. All you need now is a real POS for a parts car to complete the collection :D .

It almost seems that you are as bad as me (my sig provides a breif insight), hehe. Great job on the score!

This is a cool shot:

who puked all over the engine bay (rofl) :p

LOL, ya it's pretty bad eh? Good thing I work at a car care complex. I'm going to get my detailer to take care of all of that.............

I am thinking of finding an equivalent year Escort GT to mod and have a little fun with. Wish I could get a deal like that.(cool)

not bad for $500 and hell, if you can get all the work done yourself it will be a nice car to have....

Keen! I still want to get an old Volvo 240 as my beater. I loved the B230F engines. Hehe.

How tired is the engine in the PGT at this point?

I haven't gone past 6000RPM because of the broken midpipe. So once I do a tune-up and fix that, I'll be able to judge what the engine's like. There's no smoke, rattles or anything and it feels pretty good so far. I'm going to bump up the ignition timing a bit for sure, it feels a little lazy below 3000RPM.
