My new MAF setup + extra pictures

Thats a cool car CasopoliS, nice to see you stayed with a turbo. Looks plush inside too. I bet you'll make it even better with time.

You probably don't remember, but I bought your apex dp, and greddy cat back from you last year. I've been more than happy with it. I chopped out the cat and made it an open exhaust system and sounds really good.

I can say I've read a lot of your posts and they have been really helpful to me, especially the wiring pin diagram that I used to hook up my AFC. It too bad your leaving, but maybe you can talk the wife into a Mazdaspeed3!

Peace Out

What if you had the MAF on the Cold side, like in the diagram, but had a BOV only (no recirculatory) On the hot side...
I also have a Greddy Type S BOV on the hot pipe. The thing stalls with much frequency. If I relocate the MAF, would that prevent the stalling, even though the BOV is not on the cold pipe?

As long as the MAF is after the BOV then yes.

no, you can put it on the cold pipe. As long as it is after the BOV as said before. The reason you're stalling is becuase if the maf is before the BOV the MAF reads air coming in which is then blown off and is no longer there but the car is still expecting it. Even if you have the BOV on the hot pipe it will still be before the MAF so the extra air will be out of the system before reacing the MAF

sounds good, now where could I get a hardpipe for the cold side? and i would also need an intake right ?

I took off my forge bov a couple months ago, because i could handle the stalling. I was thinking about relocating the MAF. Anyone did this while using the forge bov?<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I don't think it matters which BOV you have, or even its location. It should work with any BOV if the MAF is after it.

diddo. this is my next project b/c I can't stand bouncing to rich when letting off the throttle.

Does anyone know of a better solution than electrical tape to the mismatch in size of the injen pipe coupler to the slightly smaller hiboost hard pipe on the cold side?

Do you just hacksaw that cold pipe and remove that section being replaced by the MAF?

Couldn't you get a section of pipe that's the same diameter as the opening on the MAF and put that back in where the MAF was removed (thus keeping the CAI in the fender well)?

DONT USE TAPE. I took this off right away (heat melts the glue). I just tightened the clamps really well and the larger hose clamped to the smaller pipes. Best solution is to buy a silicone reducer.

You can buy large silicone hose in long lengths. Get the MAF coupler diameter 2.75? and buy like a foot of silicone hose that diameter. Then cut it long enough to replace the MAF and keep the CAI. Ebay has it.

FYI the TV is great and still hanging on the wall! I might try to send my boss your way, he might be looking for a TV.

Cool. Thanks for both the help on the hoses and the referral.

I just helped a friend of mine put that same 42" model up with one of the panning/articulating arm mounts (like some of the apple displays use), and that's friggin' cool (although it kind of sucked to install it was well worth it).

Could you pm me your phone number again. I just have a couple quick questions on the pipe cutting, etc. Thanks Jon(first)

quick help needed

What size reducer do I need to connect the MAF into the hiboost cold pipe?

I have the injen couplers which fit the MAF but are too big for the hiboost pipe and all the the way tight w/out having the turbohoses clamps isn't tight enough; I need someone to specifically quantify the sizes for me please.

Is the MAF 2.75" and the hiboost pipe 2"? Anyone? I measured but can't tell for certain.

I need to know b/c I have to buy the reducers and pipe clamps asap before the pipe blows out again.

hmmm I am not quite sure what that pipe diameter is but 2.25 would be a guess. Best bet is to take off a HiBoost coupler from that pipe and measure the ID of that coupler.
I have seen a good selection of silicone couplers, hose, etc on Ebay. I never had a problem though, even with standard hose clamps. I just really tightened it down. I would try to support the pipe for now.... that way the hose is not being tugged on by the weight of the pipe. I don't know the best way of doing that... but my pipe seemed to tug a little on the clamps because of its weight. Good luck.

the magic numbers are 2.75" diameter for the MAF and 2.5" for the Hiboost pipe. I found out the hard way today. Bottom line is it works now.

Hey guys, I've done an extensive search for silicone reducers because I'll be relocating my MAF this Saturday with hardpipes. I found www.siliconeintakes.com to be the best in terms of price and service for the silicone reducers, couplers, and t-bolt clamps I bought.

Just sharing the info. (thumb)
