My new "free" mazda..

:
2015 Mazda 6
i got it from a guy who took real good care of it, with records of everything even gas fillups! Has a list of new parts from a few months ago. But he got tired of it, and was nice enough to give it to me! Im thinkin the fuel pump is dead, the previous owner said he thinks the head gasket went. but i dont see any evidence of it... but anyway.. heres the pics, they are kind of bright, but you get the idea... the paint is peeling on the roof and trunk, interior is like new... like a good white mazda does...lol, but no big body damage... can never complain for free. cant wait to get it running! anyone have a fuel pump...let me know!

FREE???!! wow. nice stuff man. That the daily or are there any plans?

Im gonna try and start my autox career with this....lol , i already have my 929 as my daily. So i can have fun with this. But ive always wanted to get out on the track, but never had multiple cars to do so.. So i finally do!!

He GAVE you this? HOly flip! I'd LOVE to have a spare 1st gen to play with!

You still have the 1st gen from your sig, right?

Kick ass! You tend to score some pretty sweet deals. You definately need to attend an auto-x or two.

BP + Manual + free = score. Well done.

Damn you Joseph  Just like my 1st 1g protege but without the whole drivers side smashed in lol

Im gonna try to get it running in a week or so, im kind of broke right now.. so im tryin to see what or if anyone else is wrong with it in the meantime, gonna do a compression test today... hope for the best...lol

damn, that's a pretty good score! I look forward to seeing it out at some autoxes this year :)

EDIT: If you want a set of ugly miata daisy wheels (2 w/ decent tires) for really cheap as spares / extras / to paint / etc, let me know

Well...after a compression test, and several attempts to get it to atleast turn over with starter fluid. I got it to turn over twice.. But after that i looked down on the spark plugs... and saw... Coolant on the pistons...:( headgasket is in order!

Compresion was 60-80-100-120 from left to right 1 to 4..... not that bad still..ill start whenever the rain stops.

yesterday:

Got it to turn over, and run for a few minutes..and unfortunatly the fuel pump is fine...and the headgasket is definatly gone..i hope thats the extent of the damage..started on taking the head off..should finish tomorrow. hopefully no more bad news..:(

Yikes. The engine is full of water.

The following may sound silly, but bare with me. It's saved my butt before...
Once you get everything back together, you'll want to get the water out of there. Drain the oil, install the cheapest oil filter you can find, and fill the engine with a gallon of diesel (that's right). With the spark plugs out and the injector harness uplugged (unplug the dizzy too), crank the engine for 10-15 seconds. Let it sit for a couple of minutes (to let the starter cool) and then repeat 3 or 4 times. Drain the diesel. Fill the engine again with another gallon of diesel and repeat the cranking process several times. Afterward, drain the diesel, replace the oil filter, and fill the engine with the cheapest oil you can find. Reconnect everything, run the engine, and lightly drive the car around for a bit. Replace the oil and filter again (you read right, 3 oil filters total) and you should be good.

Diesel, having a lower viscosity than oil, will displace the water that can be trapped within the engine. Flush it twice with diesel, then again with cheap oil to remove most of the diesel. Water will kill the pistons rings, bearings...anything made of steel inside the engine. I performed this on the Challenge Miata when the turbo failed and loaded the engine with water on the initial build. I've never had a problem since.
