My New EMS! *Pics*

The FS is not in the Pamphlet, but neither was the owners IS300, and some other major cars. The owner is installing it on his IS300 tommorow, but he has to extend all 44 wires, so thats gonna suck.

As for what your thinking, that is EXACTLY what we are thinking. All this FM o2 modifier bulls*** shouldnt be needed, just his, some 550's, and a wideband. The stock ecu wont be able to reset and **** with tuning at all.

One other cool feature this thing has is that if you have a wideband installed on your car it will auto-tune WOT for you... EVERY time, in every gear. just set your target A/F's and watch it go... Sooooo many cool things we are finding out.

We are going to use one of the features on the Ultimate to track the 3000gt's intake temps, and then trigger the alcohol injection when it reaches a certain temp... I LOVE THIS THING!

if the AFR WOT information is true, your a lucky bastard!!!!! man that would be so ******* great!!!!!

See from me tuning my car a while now with the MPI, I have been able to see our areas of need with the MSP...

1. being able to set a target AFR under boost only and have it go back to normal after out of boost.

2. when your in 4th or 5th and you barely give it gas (to say pass somebody and you leave it in 4th or 5th) I notice we climb in boost very, very quickly and you dont phyiscally feel it, well the dangerous part is that we stay very lean during this time of being under boost around 14.1 -14.7, and you want to be at an AFR target of, I say 11.9-12.1.

Warning for those not running any kind of engine management!!! if your running higher than stock boost and your in 4th or 5th gear and you want to pass or get on it you have to do one of the following to aviod being dangerously lean under boost

1. just ******* hammer it and go WOT becuase it will put you in an AFR range that is very rich or
2. drop to 3rd and then go WOT as well for the same effect....

I have tested this with the MPI and a AEM W/B AFR guage to see said results!!!

3. timing modifications are needed to change while under boost only as well. I really recommend buying the J&S knock defender kit... It is ******* badass it will only pull timing when needed and quickly bring the timing back up when it knows it's safe and it will only pull enough to stop knocking and another great feature is it will only pull timing for the cylinder that needs it. So with that said, it will pull timing based on per cyclynder and will only do it when detects knock and then will quickly raise it back as soon as it's safe.

4. controlling extra injectors also is needed when you run boost over 12psi.

I absolutly love the MPI, but it's nice to see other options out there, the more the better for all for many reasons

Please keep us posted and good luck

Yes its going on my car.

^^^ You make very good points, and I completly agree. The WOT tune is an option and doesnt have to be done, butyour point about going lean in 4th or 5th is one of the EXACT reasons I went with this unit. After hearing all of the horror stories with BlkZoomZoom, BrianMP5T, leaning out at high speeds, this unit will add fuel in to the mix based on Vehicle speed. So, not only can we tune the car from boost readings, and rpm segments, but also by the actual speed the vehicle is going for an extra amount of protection against going lean.

As for the extra injectors, we wont need to use them because the signal is being modified post ECU, not pre ecu like the MPI. From what i've heard, one of the reasons people use aux. setups with the MPI is so you can have the stock ecu take care of the fuel and when it need more fuel then the MPI can kick on the aux. and add more into the mix. And its also the reason just larger primary injectors dont work so well with the MPI.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND I"M NOT TRYING TO START AN MPI VS EMANAGE THREAD!!!

I love the MPI system and was gonna put it on but decided to try somthing new that might be a little bit better for me personally.

this sounds like a great product. I almost bought the e-manage before buying the MPI...

I think this will be an awsome option for anyone who wants to tune their ride....

I love to see as many products used as possible!!! ( I love tinkering with things) and I just felt the e-manage would really offer a lot of fun while tuning and really provide some HP gains which is just a plus and the other great thing is the poor man can buy one and buy the parts if I remember correct one at a time, which really helps tuner on a budget...

I can't wait to see the results. I hope you really take the time and provide detailed feedback becuase the newbie tuner really needs help and when you can find detailed how-to's it just really makes the tuning life easier!!!

great info in this thread!! thanks!

and about it being over a $1,000, i think i confused it w/ the AEM....the lesson as always, i'm an idiot :)

Very nice unit will like to have all the info available from others experience, but I think this is going to be my next purchase after I break in my engine.

***Updates plz***

SUPERSCRIBE... this most likely be my next mod if everything works out. What does it run for BTW?

What do you mean by this? I'm kind of confused.

You will not need the FM O2 modifier, I get that, but then you say "just his."

Is it a typo, and you mean just the Emanage Ultimate, or someone elses voltage clamper.

Sounds like a nice box by the way...
