My New 71 Datsun 510

I got in touch with the owner through email, back and forth and arranged to pick up a couple parts while I was in the area for work.
He is pretty good about getting back to you on his email.
They are on FB as well. Gabriel Tyler is his name.

An SR swap in a 510 isnt that bad, it requires flipping the front cross member, custom mounts (which are pretty easy to come by these days) a modded trans x-member, and a shortened drive shaft. Some trans tunnel cutting is also in there...
the wiring isnt bad at all, I believe 4 or 5 wires get spliced into the 510 harness if it is done that route.
I think the hardest part for me will be intercooler mounting and plumbing....

HA!

So I am not doing a swap.
I will never do a swap unitl I actually do it I guess.
Too much cost involved. I tossed around the idea of an SR20VE (Variable valve lift)
There is a guy in S.F. who did it in a '71 4 door 510, its for sale.
Makes 205 WHP while N/A.

Totally, which is why I am trying to stay away from a turbo setup.

Can totally understand, getting this SR setup running in my dime is driving me nuts. NOt hard or overly expensive, just the little things that add up and have to save for on turbo projects. I've been tempted to just get N/A manifold and run my N/A, but pretty sure a motor with 8.8-1 compression and HKS 272 cams would SUCK n/a. lol
