Koenig said:oh btw an easy way to beat the stupid biometric finger print system is because people tend to never wipe them down after using them...... so basically their finger print is still there if you "dust" it and then you can use something (not saying) to push down and use the "finger print" you dusted... so remember, if you have a biometric anything (like some of the laptops) make sure you wipe it clean![]()
AeroSquid said:biometrics on a laptop don't work like that. you have to swipe your finger over a small area not stick your whole thumb or finger on a big pad.

I was having a small party. As with most of these things, you don't always know everyone who shows up. (Friend of friends show up.....etc.) I am the friendly type of person. I stop to help out people in need, and while I know there are always bad people out there, I would rather help people out. God knows I might need it myself some day.
Anyway...about 2 am, my neighbor knocks on my door and says, "You know someone just drove off in your car. They hit my car as they took off." My guess is that when I wasn't watching he stole my keys of the counter and left. I was out towards the back of the house and never noticed until it was too late.
The guy that he came with said he doesn't know him that well. (He may be lying, but either way, I can't make him tell me anything.)
The cops have nothing to go on. At this point, I don't even want them to find the car --- God knows what this bastard did to it.
I can't believe it. You invite people into your home, you feed them, you get them free drinks, and they rob you.
It is really hard not to get jaded about life in general.
I guess I am done with the Mazda Forum for a while...
You said your neighbor would pay 22K for it when you got it fixed didn't you? Why the hell wouldn't you sell it to him, did he back out? 22K for a stolen, damaged, used MS3 is a hell of a good offer.Well I just talked to the body shop. He did burn the clutch out...in less than 500 miles! Otherwise the damage is minor. (Scratched rims...all 4) They have already ordered the parts and the car should be done in about 2-3 weeks and ready for sale. (They detail it as well.) Then it is off to Carmax, my dealer, Autotrader, and then private party --- in that order. The highest bidder gets her!
light reading? how about the 5000 Dell and 4000 Toshiba laptops I take care of every day? Biometric authentication on each and every one because they are considered medical devices. In addition they all have The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) which makes them much more secure than some old laptop with a fingerprint pad (lol) added. Take a look at what fingerprint readers look like on a new Dell-

Now understand that it reads your fingerprint as you swipe it. A static print lifted off a glass or a monitor will not defeat this type of reader unlike the obsolete hardware of yesteryear you are talking about.
Well talk is cheap. Not to mention...I don't see him and his wife coming up with that kind of money quickly. I am not going to do a loan with him, so we'll see. Oh...and when I go to sell the car, it won't be damaged anymore. As far as the fact that it was stolen, it isn't stolen anymore. Assuming the body shop does a complete inspection and fixes everything...that is a non-issue. Used...yep, can't argue with you there, but considering what I have seen two used MS3s going for in the DC/VA/MD area, I should be able to sell mine without difficulty at a good price. (I even have the MS CAI -- the other two didn't.)
CARFAX will pwn you though![]()
^That is what I was trying to get at.CARFAX will pwn you though![]()
I just got offered 21K (Yeah...they know it was stolen and is in the shop getting fixed.) for it at the Mazda dealership! I think I can get more.
