Good info, I would like to present the situation to the K&N people. I also have been a user of k&n, but not with a maf car. Some time soon, I will contact these guys and see what light they can shed. Keep up the inputs, more info the better!

Dave: Interesting point, for sure. I only mention this because a friend of mine owns a Trans Am, and they do not recommend a filter like the K&N, because of the re-oiling affecting the MAS. So.......my thinking is this; I might just buy a new K&N every 10,000 miles, instead of re-oiling. It's about $33.00 from where I bought mine. $33.00 every 10,000 - no big deal, right?

But the filters come pre-oiled out of the box (correct?) so even buying a new filter every time it gets dirty wouldn't help the matter.

I think the problem is when cleaning and re-oiling, if your not careful. I have had no troubles with my K&N, however.
