my mazdaspeed intake problem

i know this was mentioned somewhere else but i could not find it.
what i am seeing is rather odd, the car runs and drives fine. the only time it acts up is when it is over 80 degrees, and i boost hard in sixth gear. under "normal" conditions, if i am cruising at 70 or so and floor it, i will get a spike to 18-19 psi, and hold 15-16.
however if it is over 80 it will spike to 18-19, then fall to 15-16, but it will not hold steady. the boost will surge up and down between 15 and 19....up and down, up and down. you car hear it, feel it and see it on the gauge. i brought it to mazda and of course they said "we didnt see anything wrong" he also said that even though i told him exactly how to make it happen, that they "can not go over the posted speed limit"......what ever. so next time it is over 80 i will go there and take a tech for a ride so i can show them.
i know someone saw this too.....anybody else ??? if so how is it fixed.
at first i thought it was a MAF issue, but that would not be gear specific right ??? i do about 90% highway driving, and it bugs me a lot

ive heard of this , and i feel a jerking wheni hit the gas sometimes in 5 and 6th, will this over rev the compressor?going to 19 psi, in addition someone told me that a perfomance exhuast helps the turbo spool faster but will also over rev the turbo and ruin the turbo. I s theis true???!!!!!!!!!

my sis had a problem like that with her cx-7...it was like i was tapping the gas ....hit, release, hit release but i was driving in a str8 line at steady gas pedal..they fixed it now but i never had a problem like that on the ms3...something with the turbo i think they said.

your not suppose to fully spool the turbo in overdrive gears such as 5th or 6th. If you do this the car is sucking in a massive amount of air while you are at low rpms and this can cause problems. If you constantly do this you could end up in the zoom zoom boom club which is very well known by the MSP guys.

i have found this to happen more on cars that tune by mass air flow sensors than by MAP sensors.

The turbo is already running at something around 20,000 rpm a couple more here and there wont do much. And when they say "will spin the turbo faster" they mean that it will get to its max speed faster, not that it's final speed will be higher then normal.

Hunh? Are you saying don't floor the car in 5th/6th? If so, I didn't catch that warning in the manual. If it is true that it could lead to engine breakdown, that is a major drawback to the turbo engine I would have liked to have known about ahead of time.

tru-boost, i have the same problem, but havent ask or done anything about it so im curious what the actual problem is, i never noticed it before. mabye the heat, mabye a tmic will help?
im getting a 3.5 tmic by the end of the week but the car is at the dealers for a cold sart issue, 4 days and counting, but when i get it back ill post to tell you if the tmic makes a difference

i have the same exact problem and its only in 5th and 6th gear. If i step on it just to get a little more speed or whatever i notice the boost peak and drop peak and drop continiously. For example even if im in 6th doing 80 and floor it until i reach even 120 the power will jump and drop probably 20 times before i get to that speed. The only times ive not had this problem is if i took 4th to redline before shifting into 5th. This car does great at low rpms in every gear until i reach 5th/6th

exactly read my post above, you should not fully spool the turbo in overdrive gears at low rpms....this makes the engine work very hard.

What is with you people and not liking to downshift....drive the car like it was made to be driven....overdrive is for cruising and saving gas. Flooring it in OD does nothing for you except accelerate slow.

Just like in an automatic....when your not on the gas it goes into overdrive and when you floor it, the trans downshifts to accelerate faster.

Turn off your AC. All the way off, not just light out. Make sure your indicator is not in either of the defrost positions, also.

ok so now we know what not to do, but if we have this problem now, whats wrong with the car, turbo? it wasent doing it before, is the turbo seals or gaskets gone?

so what happened to mazdatech?, probally has no clue anyway, or he will try and make it sound like he knows.

Apples and Oranges.

This car is not a MSP Protege, not even close. The engine is a lot beefier and it has a close ratio 6 speed. You can floor this car in sixth and fifth and pull like crazy. On the highway, there's usually no reason to get out of sixth, even for quick passing. The problem has absolutely nothing to do with flooring it in the higher gears. It's most likey an issue with the ECU pulling boost for whatever reason.

I held back saying this for a while, but this forum is a haven for misinformation, jeez. And it's so funny and surprising to see people just suck it up.

well coming from a name like "mazdatech" you would think he knows what hes talking about, but i must say i havent hads much luck with mazd tech's
with my car problem they just say come back when its happening all the time, ive been to 2 dealerships, all of them didnt tell me anything i didnt know
already, and brushed the issue "under the carpet" for another day?

im feed up with mazda and their "techs" idiots if you ask me.
