Ok guys so i'm trying to decide on my last performance mod for the MSP....ems and ebc...

my mods at the time of install will be:
GHL Turboback Exhaust
Injen Cold Air Intake
HiBoost FMIC w/ Greddy Type S BOV w/ maf relocated (hopefully soon to be on its way here)
AWR motor mounts (front mm on its way, all others installed)
Blitz Dual Turbo Timer / Boost Gauge

I am planning on tuning at 10psi and 6.5psi, one for fun, one to save gas. I'd like to be well over 200whp as well.

So now my choices....
1.Unichip
2.MPI Tuner w/ Greddy EBC
3.DSM Afc 1 or 2 w/ Greddy EBC

I voted for MPI tuner but it all depends on you if you have an authorized unichip dealer near you then thats another good option and if you don't mind a lot of dyno tyning the DSM AFC V1 is real solid and 2 is better cuz its supposed 2 pull timing. The MPI is just a nice system to dyno tune with if you know somebody that is good with tuning because you can easily get exactly what you want out of the car

I vote unichip. I have owned all three of them, all 3 were installed on my MSP at one time or another. I made 251 whp with bolt-ons and unichip. I probably made a little more hp when I had the other 2 on my car, but I spent countless hours getting them tuned exactly how I wanted. Unichip was awsome straight out of the box. Plus you don't have to hack your wiring harness.

Microtech??? 990 for the LT8S and it has the same number of wires to do as an MPI and you'd be full standalone... if emissions is a concern though then it's a no go.

I have some knowledge I can't talk about, but given what I know I would say NOT to consider the Unichip.

why not the unichip w/ a good tune? It would cost me the same as the Microtech, and yes emissions is an issue for me.

I'm planning on buying my ems and ebc used btw everyone.

I can't tell you... it actually has nothing to do with the unit itself but with the future - you will be COMPLETELY screwed to do anything with it after a certain date.

That said, add 120 to the price of a Microtech and you can connectorize it so that it takes about 10 minutes to switch back to stock to pass emissions.

I hate to be so damn vague and shady sounding on the Unichip thing, but I'd also hate to see you get burned. Talk to a unichip dealer and ask if there is any reason to be concerned about your generation of unit and future support. Hopefully they'll be able to tell you what is up.

At that time, and Ion FMIC, Ion 2.5 catless midpipe, Greddy SP2, Injen CAI, and unichip. Spiking to 13 psi, and holding 10/11 all the way to redline.

I used to have the unichip, and I suggest not getting it with the amount of mods you have. It was tuned for just the CS exhaust, and an Injen Intake. Each mod after that is going to move it farther away what the original tune. If you want the best tune, and are only going to shoot for 10 lbs of boost, go with the AFC. It is proven to work well, fairly cheap, and you can compensate for your added mods.

The other option would be the microtech. Its a great option, but you are stuck with a CEL. That was a sticking point for me. I know its minor, but enough for me to look past it as an option.

If Steve can fix that, he might have another customer.

care to go into detail?

I think the microtech is out of the question, its an awesome system but its just too much money for what i'm planning on doing, any of the other options would be cheaper, keep in mind that I am buying my ems &ebc used guys which means it will run me about $500 plus about another $300 for tuning...

then I should be making around the same power then, thats nuts....

Also reguarding the unichip if you do not get a "New" unit then most places will not touch them anymore because all the tuning equipment is updated on the new unichips and they are USB now rather than serial and most places are stopping tune on the serial ones totally and by new i mean the brand brand new units that im not even sure are officially out yet but its USB version

is that what turfburn was refering to? or are they going to stop tuning all together shortly....

O i didn't even see his comment but im sure that is what he is refering to a local place to me won't even tune the older unichips now. They said they are done tuning all of the older ones and will not tune unichips for the MSP until the new unit is out

that blows.... i have to call my local unichip tuner in pomona and see what they say.... that will definatly make an impact on which ems I buy
