hey everyone.
i have recently purcahsed and after 3 weeks of waiting on the shipping, as soon as i open the box excitedly my mom asks me what it is that i spent 220 dollars out of my checking account on and i showed her and she simply tells me that theres no way im putting that on "her car" although it is my graduation present, it is technically her car. could you guys just list the good and bad qualities of this intake as to maybe help persuade my mom into letting me put it on.

also does anyone know if this voids your warrenty or anything that it can possibly damage by putting this on.

No an intake alone cannot void a warrenty, unless it is proved that any damage sustained to the vehical was a direct effect of the intake. That goes for any other aftermarket part u add to a car. Also having a CARB certification gaurentees that it will not void a warrenty.

I believe thats correct?

hey thanks i have tried that already she just said "what do you care about gas mileage?" maybe the fact that i have to pay for it. do you know how much % increase?

Sorry, I have no idea. Does she know what you currently are getting for mileage? If not then just make somethign up. ;)

Thats all I can tell you

wow, just like me, almost.

I got the kartboy shifter + bushings, to put on ~ahem~ my car, but i made the mistake of mentioning it, and then it turned into "you cant put that on my car" says my parents.

I just kept it around, showed them the positive things this board had to say about it, and they let me "try it"

Also, returning it would just be like $30 down the tube because of restocking fees.

Installing the short shifter had a side benifit as well, my parents no longer want to drive my car very much (my mom hasnt even tried) so its all good. :) (because its stiffer, takes more effort to shift)

However, any problem with the tranny starts to show up im probly going to replace the stock parts-- which is something you can easily do with your intake when you need to go to the dealer.

You aren't in california so there is no reason to get a CARB sticker (california air resources board....) but you might want to prod your dealer to see if he is cool with it or a dick. many dealers are dicks, some are cool with mods (or so i hear.)

Other advice: check your mail, and dont let your parents see your bank report, its just like ganking the report card back in junior high, hehe.

hah.
they wouldnt have found out if the bank didnt double withdraw me for something else.... dammit
im going to let her see the intake and while shes focused on me not putting it in the car im buying a stereo lowering springs and other stuff like that

you could take the easy way out and buy the car from her:p

Seriously though, i really feel for you man....kinda glad i own my MP3. I forgot how controlling parents can be. You can't tell her that it'll make the car faster cause thats bad....you'll get the "why do you need to go any faster?" speech. As for the warranty, just make sure you don't go through any huge puddles and you should be fine.:)

Little tip for those dealing with parents and a car. If the car in in their name, or they pay for anything concerning that car....it is NOT YOUR car.

At least, that's how they see it.

My first new car was leased. But, because I was fresh out of school, my credit was not yet established enough to get the lease. So, even though I paid for EVERY single dime on the car, we did have to put it in my fathers name, and of course, I had to use his insurance as well as the car had to be insured in his name, then me 2nd

You'd think, that since I was paying for everything, it would be my car. But, nope, he/mom still thought he had the right to tell me what to do with it.

So one day I sold it, and told him about it afterwards....take that asshole( actually my father is really cool, but he was a real dick about this)

Funny as hell.....he's like, where's the car? Oh, I sold it, and bought another one.... :)

WHAT !

Yup, and it's all in my name now too....buh bye!

This was obviously a few years ago. My point being, it ain't your car, until it says so on the pink slip.

yes i do plan on buying the car but right now, i am in highschool and college classes so i don't have a lot of free time that i can work. all i do is work with my dad at a body shop doing random tasks and what nots. I never said that it was 'MY CAR" i said it was my graduation present from them and they said it would be the last thing that they would pay for me other than college. My mom works at a junior college so iim going there to take free classes until i move to atlanta where i will be on my own. I have planned to just collect a box of parts and stuff for my mp3 and take it with me to college where the car and payments on it will be turned over to me, therefore i can pretty much do what i want with it since my mom won't know.

i have a honda civic that really needs to be sold. but if i do sell it, they are just going to make them give them about 75% of what i get out of it. they payed 2600 for it it to start with (i didnt pick it out dont blame me for getting a '92 automatic 4 door Lx) but anyway i replaced the broken front bumper with a fiberglass one and went ahead and put a back one on too and put some 17" focal rims and two 12" subs in and all new door speakers as well as other motor parts and what nots so i my self put about 2500 in it my self (oh yeah i also had repainted it yellow the integra yellow, by my dad)
and anyway they consider that my car but ever since i started griving a manual transmission, i can never enjoy driving the automatic smoke rolling p.o.s.
