My Hypertech Impressions

okay, picked it up yesterday and installed it last night love it

Removed 0-60, mscai map, no limiter

I can say the parts I can definitely feel the most would be the lower end torque, and smoothness of power. Its especially smoother to rev match on downshifts. Idle also felt smoother right away.

All I'm wondering is what the mpg difference will be if any

Gonna go get one today from a retail store. Yea, costs more than online, but long story short I bargained them down and got some reembursment money from my parents, so all I will be paying is $280

So this weekend I've got a lot planned to include loading the tune. Gonna do some seafoam, change oil, rotate tires and I may clean tthe intercooler and MAF sensor

So if I clean the MAF I will be unplugging the battery first. I guess I should load the tune after this and I should be okay? Reason I ask is because I have the mscai, and everytime I unplug the battery I can tell the ecu burps a little bit to get parameters up to par. Or maybe if I load the tune first the ecu will have an easier time after unplugging the battery
no need to unplug, HT says installing does the same thing : clean slate

You are probably getting the "burp" because the ECU resets the fuel trims when you remove power to it. Since the MSCAI alters the MAF readings a bit, the ECU has to adjust the fuel trims accordingly.

When you reprogram the ECU with the Max Energy Sport programmer, the programmer resets the ECU anyway. When you install the Hypertech programmer, you will have an option for the MSCAI. If you select that option when you install the tuning, it will correct the MAF calibration. With the MAF calibration corrected, the fuel trims won't have to be adjusted as much at part throttle, and you shouldn't have those burps.

I'm not sure if this has been touched on before, maybe chris can chime in, but since HT extensively put time in on each popular brand of intake for their MAF tuning calibration did they find any particular intake that got better power numbers with their tune?

Save the whole sri/cai issue with a stock car, I wonder if the HT got better numbers from any one intake

I'm also wondering if hypertech has any more ideas/updates for the 1st gen or if its been put on the backburner in light of the 2nd gen being out now

As far as HP gains, there's not much difference between them. We never actually did a back to back to back test. We were tuning them as we went, and there were too many variances between dyno runs to acurately compare numbers, but they were all within 5 to 10 HP, once they were calibrated correctly.

There were definitley some differences in fit, appearance, and price. In my opinion, those factors would weigh in more than the performance difference that you'll see.

We've had requests here on this forum for additional features, such as idle adjustment, and adjustable cooling fan on/off engagement. These are on our "to do" list, but I don't know when we will be able to get to them.
