my first warranty issue

don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but my 8.5 gt has a problem with the rear window washer. it works just fine, buuuut it leaks.

and this isn't just a normal leak like you hold it, the wiper does a couple extra sweeps when you let go, and then you see a little trail of fluid after the wipes are done. the fluid will go on, and i'll do single wipes for a while (like 5 or 6 more) before i don't see it coming down anymore.

that's normal, you say? well, i'll keep my eye on it for a while and see nothing. when i park it for a while (overnight, going into the mall, whatever) i come back to the car and there's a long streak of dried up washer fluid. and dried up washer fluid doesn't easily go away.

so i guess i'll have to take it to the dealer on some weekend to get checked out. i normally wouldn't care so much, but it is very distracting when you look in your rear-view mirror and uncontrollably focus in on the streak before what's behind you

This happens on my 06 NA 3 hatch. I use the rear washer, the auto 2 wipes cleans up most of the fluid but then I have to manually add a few more wipes.
I haven't noticed additional trickle afterwards though.

This is because there is fluid still left in the line and the remainder trickles out. They could have made it better and put a valve right on the end near the nozzle. I'm assuming the valve is further up the washer fluid line so any fluid left over after the valve will trickle out and onto your back window.

As an additional note, notice it takes time for the motor to push fluid from the front of the car all the way to the back before fluid actually comes out of the nozzle.

Sorry to bring this post from the dead but I also have this problem.

Whenever I get on the car the fluid will come out and its not a little bit and its every sinlge time i get on it lol.. What did you have to do to get it fixed.

Mine does this too. Thinking about disconnecting the rear washer squirter.... I wanna get rid of the rear wiper all together as well!

Anyone done this aka short walkthrough DIY?

Somebody did that, I remember reading it. Search - I don't know where (it's on here though), I think it could have been as much as a year ago though...

try 'delete rear wiper'

Out the box, it's got a lazy Urethra!

Or maybe it's got The Drip! You think the MS3's been sexing up some skanky rides without wrapping up?

Despite what some might say, this is "normal" on this car. It is a design issue, not a warranty issue. They will do nothing about it. I thought of fixing it but I am not that concerned. The "fix" would involve re-orienting the nozzle so it sprays down the glass, and not directly into it.

If you look up into the recess in the spoiler, you'll see a cavity that contains the spray nozzle. Additionally, you'll notice the spoiler rests on the glass. Now notice that the nozzle sprays directly into the glass instead of spraying over it as the front washers do, which causes the fluid to run down the glass. So, the spray hits the glass and splashes out into the cavity, and between the spoiler and glass, and some runs down the glass for your wiper to hit. Since water has capillary qualities, some will stay there, between the spoiler and glass to slowly drizzle down your glass later.

Have someone spray the thing when you're back there looking at it and you'll see what I mean. I took a short video of this but it's too big (4.7 MB, 13 seconds) to post on this forum. I can send it if you like.

i've actually gone the way of not using it anymore. the only time i do is before i wash the car, and that's only to make sure the fluid line doens't rot out from stagnant washer fluid (don't know if it actually would or not, but something tells me at the very least minerals would be left behind when the water evaporates).

Was gonna try it on my Integra, but a buddy of mine shattered his rear windshiled.... bad omen!?!

I would love to have a shaved back with no wiper. Now if only I can find the time. Oh now? Lunch ;) Not allowed to leave the building
