Got the Haltech dyno tuned yesterday. First pull of the day was like 130WHP with solid 10 AFR's and timing more retarted than the guy in that picture getting chased by the rally car. ( I had it set this way for saftey till I hit the dyno.) So I had 2 sessions, these are the pics / vids from the first one. Next week we tune for 18psi. With some MAD advance on the timing and some adjustment of the fuel map, I put down 182WHP and 182 WTQ on 0.45 Bar (7psi) which is something wicked for that much boost.
So we upped it to 10psi and I dropped 219WHP and 220WTQ! (yippy) Ya, that's at the wheels on only 10psi. So, it can be done folks. Stock SRT-4 territory on only 10psi with a teeny turbo. I can't wait to see what this thing will do on 18-20psi, and then again with race gas. So, we made almost 100WHP just by tuning. $/hp ratio on this one was very good. The guy tuning my car was Reg Reimer. He's a bit of a tuning ledgend, mostly known for 1000HP+ Supras around here, but I was priveledged to have him work on my car.
Keep in mind I built this whole car with my dad in my garage. Thanks to Dana for the rock solid bottom end.
I ran it up to 7400 RPM a couple times but the FS just doesn't seem to like it. It does respond REALLY well to alot of timing, but the long stroke of the FS makes for some astronomical piston speeds at that high of an RPM so for any of you looking to raise you rev limiter there's really no point. My power peaks around 6200RPM, so I'll shift at 65 and call it a day. I quit doing my last few dyno pulls around 7 grand or so.
The results from tuning are evident on the street. It's like a whole new car. Pulls SO hard at only 10psi, I think 18 will be a bit much. (Then again, is there such a thing as too much? (thumb) )
Anyway, on to the pics and vids. I'll post some more after my next "big boost" session. Laterz!
