we had our meet in atlanta yesterday, and someone mentioned a blue mp3 at a nearby dealership. so my wife and i rode over to check it out. she liked it, so i called today and made them a reasonable offer (11K)...well, the salesman said "i can't do that, but i'll get you close"...yeah, his idea of "close" is 14,500. he claimed that his Yokahama avs es100's costs him $1000...which tirerack.com list for $80/tire. and his 30K service cost his $800. riiiiight. i worked at a mazda dealership...i know how much this s*** costs. oh well, i was willing to go up to 12,500 and buy it today...but not from his lying ass. and what makes this whole ordeal worse...i'm a car salesman. go figure.

They took that car for $8K-$9K total, we both know the rest was bought by the previous owner.

Sounds like my old car :D

$14,500? hehe, that's way too much. Even $12,500 is too much. Whatever, at the end of the day he didn't get your money, so fuggit. :)

i had offered 11K to begin with...which is reasonable. Black book on a MP3 (even though it isn't listed) is 10K or less. what a fucknut.

Did you tell the guy you know how much yokohamas cost, and how much a 30,000 mile service is? I wouldn't buy it for more than 11k.

Chris

yeah, i had the price of the yokahama's right in front of me...he said "where'd you get THAT price?"..."tirerack.com"...s***, the yokahama's on the Evo are $250...how the hell could a yokahama on a ******* mp3 be $250? he's smoking crack. i'm going to call the sales manager and see if i can get a good price.

Isn't it basicly the same size tire for either car?

ummm...no.
mp3: 215/45ZR17

evo: 235/45 R17 93W

plus they're 2 totally different tires. the yokahama's on the evo are the A046's @ $212/tire...the yokahama's on the mp3 are the yokahama avs es100's at $97/tire.

I said same size. Which they basicly are, the evo is a bit wider.

is that honestly the point of this thread? who gives a s***...my point is that they're not 1K tires.
I agree with you. I'm not arguing that as I have bought those tires for my MP3.

Well this has gone off topic, so why not continue :). I'm going to get Yoko AVS ES100 for my MP3 next month. Is there any place better than Tirerack for price ($97 apiece)?

Chris

well, at least i'm honest. i cannot stand to be lied to...which is why i don't lie to other people. i called the sales manager, he should be calling me back shortly...i'll let you guys know what i find out.
