My CX7 got hit

I was in the carpool lane at my sons school scarfing down some Wendy's with my wife and we got rearended! (pissed) . My wife was in the driver's seat and I was sitting shotgun and my 11 month old daughter was in teh back. We were stopped waiting on my son when we felt a fairly serious impact. Damage is very minor at first glance but who knows what it will cost to get fixed.
Worst part about it was the driver, a non-english speaking lady, handed her cell phone to me to speak to her "husband". He proceeded to beg me not to call the cops or insurance. He said he'd cut me a check for the damages and then some! He said that she didnt have a drivers license and I said no worries, the cops will look up her number. Thats when he says well she's not my wife, she's my sister in law and she doesnt actually have a drivers license at all. Im figuring she's an alien but she had insurance! We swapped info and called the cops. When the officer let us go, he kept the other driver for whatever reason. Not sure if it had anything to do with citizenship or the lack of a dl but whatever.

Sorry to hear about the fender bender. Damage doesn't look too bad from what I can see. Some of these bumpers that get hit around 5mph or less rarely even see any damage. I've been rear ended twice and there was basically no damage at all. Good to hear you and the fam are okay. I would've taken grand from the guy if he offered...no check though...hell no.

Sorry to hear about the car is you daughter OK? If you don't mind me asking I have a son due any day now and will be using a Peg Perego car seat with the LATCH system, the ? is do you also use this type of car seat and if so where do you position it (SIDES or MIDDLE) ???

yeah interested in learning how the carseat hold up too.! (I've got a 3month old son) and I have a mazda5 with no middle seat, so he seats behind me.

I can only imagine how you feel! I'm still parking my CX-7 way out at the end of the lot so people don't ding mine up... So sorry to hear about your "incident". Luckily, you, wifey and the little one are ok -- that's most important!

Thanks for all the wishes. We use the Graco forward facing seat right behind the drivers seat. Im calling the at-fault's ins company today so we'll see how it goes.

I'm glad you're all alright. Now I can understand why you called the cops since, this person shouldn't be driving without a license at all and she could do this to someone else so it probably is best to get her off the street. I have to say in reality though that I would have taken the extra cash and taken my significant other out for a sweet dinner.

Thanks, for the car seat info. Do WE have to worry (GOD forbid) about the side curtain airbags, if we put our kids on the sides and not the middle? Is it even possible to put tn the middle?
