x2 I feel doopedI came in expecting to see a Skyline. I hear R32 and always think Skyline first because I'm not sure why people would talk about VW's. =p

much better when TT'd
Sorry, those older Skylines are a bit played out. As for the R32, surprised that even after supercharging, it's really not much, if any, faster than our MS3s.
a friend of mine just supercharged his r32...sounds nasty...
very nice car...really wanted one when they first came out, still do but one of the first generations not the second..
Give me a break, the VR6 is a way better engine that MS3's platform, and the power gains on a boosted R32 are a bit more bulkier than MS. I'd much rather own an R32 over any MS out there... 240hp AWD 6-speed in a hatch? Honestly, it has to be the better car, and being the last model VW to come equipped the almighty VR6, i'd be more than stoked to own it. Not to mention with an exhaust w/ no cats - it sounds amazing. As for the TT vs. SC, the power is greater with the TT's, and as for SC'ing an R32... i've seen good results with them, but the TT's pull better numbers overall. R32's own MS's.
BTW, he bought his R32 brand new in 2004 for the same price as an MS3 similarly optioned. 27k.
No, his car stock isn't as fast as a stock MS3. His car does seem to have much better build quality and it rides nicer. He hasn't had a problem in his almost 5 years of ownership and I haven't had an issue (other than a few teething pains in late 06) on my car.
it upsets me that "r32" has come to be associated with those, instead of these:

otherwise, nice car.
Thanks for sharing I guess but nobody was really asking what you would want out of your dream VW. I was merely stating that I was kinda surprised that even a lightly SC'd R32 isn't really any faster than an almost bone stock MS3, as per the OP. Which goes to show what a pig the R32s are stock. Not to mention the fact that it costs quite a bit more than a MS3 and the electrics will most likely cause any owner to go insane after 4 years of ownership.
So if you honestly ask me, no, the R32 is not the better car because it'll probably be just as unreliable as any other VW/Audi I've ridden or driven. Oops, I forgot, nobody was asking for my opinion but there you have it.
Almost all of my previous cars are VW. I've owned (or still own) everything from a type 1, to A1-A4 chassis. I've even had an Audi. I only started having problems when the A2 went to Digi II and with my 1.8t Gti. Build quality it awesome. Sensor quality is le poo. (I never had the sludge issue that the other 1.8Ts had)
Awesome cars if you have some sort of mechanical ability. Sensors for those are cheap now because they mow through so many of them. It just got tiresome. I traded my GTI in on the MS3. From the performance stand point, I totally made out. In the overall fit, finish, interior, and ride quality, not so much.
Is that Jetta123 on vortex and Richmonddubs? If so, I've met him. Very nice guy. VERY fast car.
No chris dell has a TC R32 that was nasty it had 500+whp. He is taking it back to stock to fix up a s4 now.
He has vids on youtube his user name is CandCDell
What's your deal with somebody giving their opinion on an open forum?
