Eh, doesn't matter now...it's being dropped from GM.
Except the last-gen supercharged GT only had 398HP, not 496. But it was considerably lighter than the new Shelby.bumpin_p5 said:The '07 Shelby Cobra under average atmosphere, pushes out 503 HP @ the wheels. Not much more than a supercharged GT @ 496.
My bro in law's '05 gt that he traded in dynoed 496 at the wheels.girth said:Except the last-gen supercharged GT only had 398HP, not 496. But it was considerably lighter than the new Shelby.
LOL. three letters... yes...Dimitrios said:Jeebus, I hope he doesn't make assinine money decisions like that frequently.
That's odd. The drivetrain loss is normally about 65hp. So they should be around 435 to the wheels.untitled_sped said:the gt500 doesn't dyno 503 to the wheels. the one i've seen dyno'ed 415hp to the wheels.
I'm not gonna argue. The car sucks ass anyway. That is just what I was told. I do know the GT he had dynoed at 496 at the wheels... I saw it myself. Much better car @ a much better price.untitled_sped said:the gt500 doesn't dyno 503 to the wheels. the one i've seen dyno'ed 415hp to the wheels.

Folks as far as the interior of the Mustang goes it's just as good as any American car. I'm not going to say the GTO is bad, but for 30k I want it to look the part. The GT 500 does that, the GTO is far from it.
Donas64 said:You will not walk out of a dealrship with a GT500 for lest than 55K. The GT500 does NOT have a 55K interior.
You can walk out of a dealership with a GTO for 27-30K. That interior is excellent considering that 27-30k is loaded toyota camry money.
Are you kidding me? It feels like you're sitting in a bathtub, the beltline is so high, visibility is nonexistant. You have to sorta guess that car down the road.Hughes412 said:Now the For Mustang IS an American Muscle car. Its Americana at its best. The design stays true to that of the original. The seating (in front) is great, however the rear is lacking.
Hughes412 said:But the GTO doesnt have the mystique of the GT500. Yea the GTO has power and is cheaper, but it doesn't come close to being a GTO. It's not even an American car! And what s even worse is the gas tank is in the trunk. That and the seating position isnt that great (yes Ive drove one). Now I do like them, but the GTO is not a 30k car, more like a 20k car.
Now the For Mustang IS an American Muscle car. Its Americana at its best. The design stays true to that of the original. The seating (in front) is great, however the rear is lacking. The Shelby GT500 is already a collectors car, some thing that the GTO can only hope to be. Thats why its selling for 10k over MSRP.
Donas64 said:Now Hughes you know that I go nothin but love for ya, but thems fightin words.
GTO a 20K car????? WHAT ARE YOU SMOKIN MAN
You basically get a Corvette 400hp LS2 motor in an understated body and you're saying it's a 20K car? We're not talking about a neon SRT4 here.
The GTO is more an American Muscle car than half the Crap Chevy tosses out there With the SS badge.
The Shelby GT500 is a BAAAAAAD ride. Don't get me wrong. But it's classic on the Shelby name alone. You take away that shelby name and it's just another tarted up stang.
The thing is WAAAAAAAAAY too heavy, it's not worth what they are charging for it. The only people buying GT500s especially with the current markups on them are Ford Fans with too much cash and not enough sense. over 50K for a MUSTANG? HECK HECK SUPER HECK NAW!!!!!!!!
As for the Mustang seating position, Interior ergonomics have never been the stangs strong suite, sorry.
Overall I gotta that while the GT500 is a nice nice car, I'd rather have a car thats just as nice and almost as fast for almost 30K LESS! It's a NO BRAINER!
