Mustang Convertible: Why not?

i bet they could custom make it a four seater, and then you wont have to deal with live rear axle on the rustang.

just kidding, buy the damn mustang already!

You know you want to:

If you really don't care what people think, and you only prefer RWD, then why not consider a VW New Beetle Turbo S convertible?

Or, pick up a 95 240SX vert if you can spare some fix-up cash for it.

We drove an '06 or '07 5-cyl New Beetle, it wasn't bad at all. Surprisingly quick, even though it was non-turbo, much more open-feeling than the Mustang, and roomy enough for us including the kid. There's no trunk, though, and I'm a bit suspect of VW wiring and reliability in general.

As for the 240SX, they're frankly older than I want to buy, but they also only came in autotragic.

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Convertible

Likewise, older than I'm really looking for. The 3rd gen Eclipses were not so reliable, one of my friends had a huge lemon of a 3g Eclipse. The current Eclipses are just stunningly ugly, but they are still on my list of convertibles to test drive.

PT Cruiser convertible?

Ugh. No. Just no.

Stay away from the new eclipse stickshifts, my buddy had one and due to them having some type of clutch assembly that the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc are all "one piece" they have horrible clutchs. In 30k miles his car saw 8 different clutch assemblies and a transmission. Aside from that the backseat i didnt find to be to comfy.

I'm a Mustang Owner and I'm going to also try to talk you out of it. I've been in so many different stangs it's not even funny and even supercharged, the current V6's are not impressive. If all your saving with a V6 is 2 MPG, why bother, just get the V8 and be happier. Part of the fun of owning a Mustang is it's obnoxious exhaust note from the V8. They're big, they're heavy. I'd seriously just get the GT if I were you and if I were me, I'd just get the GT500, as with the aftermarket you mentioned your gonna toss in tons of money into a car that will still not equal the performance of the Shelby.

If your not going to get a V8 in a mustang just save your money and put it to good use elsewhere. They're not worth s*** used...

hmm i didnt figure those variables into my original equation.....interesting

Yeah, manual makes it much easier, and snow tires really do make a night and day difference. I got around just fine in my Miata with snows. You simply start up in 2nd or 3rd gear to limit torque, brake early, shift early to keep the RPM's and torque down, and keep as much space as possible between you and other drivers. My Miata didn't have ABS, traction control, or any other techno-wizardry, and I never had a problem.

i think its actually easier without all the tech. stuff because you have full control of the car and its not trying to understand what your telling it to do, it just does it

yeah, snow tires make an absurd difference. especially on something like a mustang, which would most likely have a wide rear tire.
