Mustang Convertible: Why not?

Secondly, it would probably be best if a mod just deleted everything not having to do with the OP, Knox being an ass, or not being an ass, has nothing to do with fun, family friendly cars.

Thank you.

And I still think Foolish should get a Speed6, rather than a vert Mustang.

I dunno, i still feel like the v6 mustang vert is a good idea. or if its not too much more money in the long run, the GT. I think everyone on this forum could list a million cars that they would prefer than the stang, but clearly since he's leaning so strongly towards the stang, he has a strong interest.

though that is a nice ass lexus. not a fan of the wheels tho.

sooooo.... SC430 anyone?

Pretty sure they never came in a stick. Besides, there's no room in the back seat, even for my 2:3 scale child! ;)

Knox Joe, I'm sorry to inform you that people could die in your cars, too. Hell they could die standing next to your cars. It's a big, scary world out there, but sometimes we have to take a small risk to enjoy the brief time we have on it.

I loved my Miata, and used it top-down 50-52 weeks a year. Northern VA has totally ADD weather, I dropped the top any time it was over about 38* and will do it again in my next convertible, whatever that is.

If a mod would be kind enough to delete the stupid crap from this thread, I'd appreciate it. I do also appreciate the useful suggestions I've gotten.

Go for the Mustang! I love my 2005 GT & so do my 3 boys (ages 7,9,& 12). The Stang was my DD for 2 years. I had muddy cleats, wet swimsuits, tons of gear, even 2x4's from Home Depot in that thing. I even put Pirelli Snowsports on it and drove through the snow. Were there more practical, affordable, gas saving cars I could have driven? Of course!! But I wanted a Mustang ,period. If you want a cool 4 seat convertible there is no other choice(IMO). The fit & finish on the 05' + Stangs is pretty good also. Big improvement over the previous generation.

My 2000 MPV, 2002 P5, & 2005 Mustang GT..

If you like it, then get it. My brother loves his '05 GT. Even though he's had some silly problems with it, it runs better than my MSP ever did.

That's the exact reason why the Mustang's handling is poor in comparison to other domestic muscles like the 'Vette. Live axle works great for straight-line racing, but it's a nasty handicap on the corners.

Yep...just sold the GT about 2 weeks ago, and I might try to find an '03 Cobra next spring due to that. Better handling and more power!!!!

Live axle is stronger than that IRS setup. Which is why most people with powerful Mustangs and Cobra's use them.
Handling and power are only issues if you remain stock.

But if he's looking at the V6 'Stang don't they have the live axle? He should check the GT...better resale value and I think they come with the independent rear.

Both models have the long running 8.8 solid axle. IRS was only on the supercharged Cobras. Ring gear is different in the V6 and GT though. And I agree V8 is the only kind of Mustang to own, but I'm biased.

Just touching on the rollover issue real quick....

#1. VERY FEW people ever roll a vehicle, if you are a serious enough wreck to roll the vehicle, whether or not its a hardtop or vert is ind of a moot point, you're already in god's hands.
#2. If ur worried about rollover protection many aftermarket compnaies including saleen make rollbars there are fairly low profile and provide just as much if not more stability in a rollover than a hardtop.
#3. I agree that the speed 6 would be a safer car for the fam but judging by your previous posts across the bored, and by the fact that you are even considering a v6 mustang im going to assume you dont drive like an asshat. I tend to push my vehicles to their limits quite often so i tend to like caes that have a little room to budge.

At any rate, knox, your asshatery is not needed on this forum, nor is it appreciated.

as far as peoples concerns about the vehicle being safe for the family, this most likely wont be the families primary vehicle...they also have a Mazda MPV that Im sure does most of the kid duty...
