MSP under the knife

wow those pistons look real nice, are you thinking about doing this to other engines for a price or just to yours? maybe worth it if you can get some people who would want a strong engine i would be interested. but can't wait to see what the finished product turns out and what it puts out.
thanks fo rthe updates, keep them coming

What kind of rods/pistons are they? What material are those pistons?

Looks really good nick. You build/balance the whole engine in house?

cp pistons and im not sure what rods....they do it all in house..I saw those pistons and rods when I was up there not to long ago, and they looked real nice..the porting they did on that exhaust mani and housing looked VERY nice..I'm betting they pick up alot of power...we'll see tho! Depending on how this motor turns out ill be deciding between this piston/rod combination or the one from wagner

We also cannot wait to see what type of power it makes. I am thinking around 260-280 at the wheels. Tuning and building cars is only some of what we do. We are also a full service in house performance machine shop. We build performance engines all day long. We can build you or anyone any spec engine.

If anyone has any questions about building an engine please let me know.

Our valves are made by Manley Performance Products. Our pistons are made by C-P Pistons. We use Crower. Manley, Eagle rods. We can have amost anything made to our specs.

Thanks again

Do the blue marks on the mani represent the amount of porting that'll be done?

Thanks.
You blue the surface and then trace out the gasket. The blue that you see is what is left.

Yes we do all of our machine work and building in house, outside of grinding crankshafts. Years ago we did a lot of regrinding of crankshafts. Now most people get new aftermarket crankshafts if they can. For the Protege and some other crankshafts I have a good friend of mine grind them for me.

Looks good.We are also building a motor. However we are using Oliver Billet Rods and CP pistons. Our head is getting fully worked. We are looking for 500HP on alot of boost.
Good luck on the project.

Boost and more boost, the only replacement for displacement. Oliver rods are very good, a little on the high side for most people with street engines. Good luck with your 500hp land rocket.

Man i cant wait to see that and cant wait to go forged. Just not anytime soon let the stock stuff take a beating for awhile i guess.

We did hit 13.7s @104mph on a stock engine.

Thanks again

Oliver is the best of the best and you gotta pay to play.Good luck with your setup. I would like to see how it turns out.By the sounds of it we are building close to the same setups.

Thanks,
Beau

Engine builders would debate who has the strongest rod along with many other things as to what is better. I will leave it at that. For 500 hp I could see you wanting to go with Oliver rods, they have worked good for you in the past. I would go with the Manley Pro Rod. Again both are great rods but one builder may have had better luck with one over the other. Not saying that one is better then the next.

Yes we are both building sound engines but I think you may have a problem with a stock gear box before me. All that power may suck when it comes to axle and gear boxes.

Thanks again

I agree.Opinions are Opinions and just that.Yes, the gear box does have some concern. We are going to have the gears cryo treated. If that doesn't work, then I will get on the machines and try and build our own set.
Here is a link that might be interesting to you.
It's a FEA test of an Oliver against the leading H-beam manufactor.

Yes we use the MPI Tuner. I have seen people post more then a few times on this forum. It always seems that when people do get to the track to see a car run the story is never the same.

Thanks again

Damn you suck Nick!!!! I thought I was out of wanting my block done, but after seeing that, give me some prices. As long as I have the big turbo, I might as well use it. BASTARD!!!!!...J/K It is nice to have a tuner do his own machine work in house, less of a chance for mistakes with wrong info. Are you porting the intake and head and using any type of better valve train? How bout tranny options?
