any source, I dont know if your car has cruise control...but if so, disconnect the vacuum line that is using it, connect that one shared with anything and use that nipple alone with the bov
Ive tried this. I kep the Bov on the line its on now, without the Tee.
I then put the wastegate on another line from the manafold. It was just as loud but i could hear more of a hiss when releasing boost. The hiss would last longer than the gobble as well.
Somebody said there was a nipple on the BOTTOM of the intercooler. I took a quick look but couldnt find it. There IS a nippe on the top of the intercooler pipe, it just needs to be drilled out.
Hissing is a good thing, that's what we want to hear
I don't think even if there was a source on the IC, that it would be a good one. I'm gonna look for one tomorrow(today), and I'll let you know what I find out. I need to go across town to get the silicone hose, but I'll have each on a seperate vacuum line by nightfall, and I'm gonna run the BOV open vent for testing purposes. That will mean less restriction than the new return line will have, and it will be easier to hear what the valve itself is doing.
Using a source from the intercooler for the BOV will not work, it will not see vacuum when releasing the gas pedal. Use that one for the wastegate instead.
igdrasil - ya i wanted to go from the i/c to the wastegate.
LinuxRacr - i cant see clearly but that looks like where i put in my boost gauge. If it is then that is where i added yet alother line for my wastegate and ran it down to it.
Go ahead and quote from anything on our website, that's fine. Thanks for giving credit.
If you're trying to track down compressor surge, removing the BOV completely isn't going to do squat. That was my point earlier. If you're still getting compressor surge with a BOV, you've either got a stuck valve, a poor signal or it's plumbed in incorrectly. I haven't had the chance to examine the bypass setup on an MSP closely so I can't comment on how it's set up from the factory. It really doesn't take much in the way of tubing to allow the BOV to work properly but it does need a good signal.
No luck today, my roof started leaking after 3 days of hard rain. I spent all day dealing with that. Hopefully I can get to the vacuum lines tomorrow. Too many projects going on at once.
OMG. Is this the turkey sound I've heard so much of from MSP owners? I mean, people are getting this other than you?! Holy crap. Let me guess, when you ask the dealers, they are saying its normal and not doing damage, when it is indeed compressor surge!? Wow.
Yup, the infamous. Everyone who has a injen CAI on a msp is getting this just as bad as mine. Maybe even everyone else, and the stock airbox is just covering it up. I have not asked the dealer because honestly, I have lost all faith in the whole dealership and warranty thing. The last time I dealt with them, they couldn't even find the harness to run an autodimming/compass mirror in my car. They said that the part did not exist because my vin wouldn't bring up anything on their computer. Mazda failed at the hesitation fix, they failed with their latest bushing for the clunk, and I am damn sure that we would never see a fix for this. It seems that the aftermarket is the only way to go for the problems with this car.
