The front left wheel is scratched but the rest are perfect condition. I'm not sure what i'd be selling yet but i definately will let you all know later.

the airbags delpoy at 35 mph frontal impact. That is a direct frontal impact. What you have is a high speed sweep. See how the sheet metal is shoved off to the side? Actual impact was probably less than 35 mph. I have been working in Trauma and Emergency Nursing for 11 years and this is typical of all cars, not just the MSP. I have seen way worse than that w/o airbag deployment. Think about NASCAR (sorry) they are doing 190 mph but the imact into the walls is less than 70 mph due to the way the angle of impact is. Even Dale Sr's fatal impact was just over 70mph.

I don't think you have grounds for any kind of lawsuit since you didn't have any measurable loss, and the car did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do, protect you in a collision.

No. They tried to put them on the corvettes, but there was a big law suit against people's privacy...

entirely his fault, but the whole sit. could have been avoided. now you got a totalled car. YOUR ins. is going to go up.....chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Exactly what he said - and alexi yes cars with OBDII DO have these systems on the cars. They help determine if all crash protection systems funcitoned properly - all OBDII cars have them its the law.

whao that happen to me on my civic but i was lucky the car behind me chase the truck and get the license plate # and call the police . thanks to him the cops got it and everythink work out , but after i fixed my brother was driving the same car (civic) thanks that wasn't the msp and get hit and run and nobody saw anythink so we are putting nwe body kit and carbon fiber hood in the civic . hope everythink works good and thank god that you are ok.

nah thats not a 70mph hit. Im no body guy, but i have been in a cuouple of front end hits (none my fault) you could have been going 70 or 80 when ith appened, but you naturally broke hard, its a natural reaction most dont even know they did it. you prolly got down to about 40 mph and and that fits the collision if you ask me. and i dont know the exact speed, but 2nd gen airbags arent supposed to deploy under a certain amount of speed just because if that airbag would have went off you would be in worse condition then you are in now. You obviously didnt need it if you were wearing your seat belt, and the airbag would have caused more harm than help. GLad to see your OK, it could have been MUCH MUCH worse, and as for the car (and dont bash me for this) as much as you loved your car, and we all love the speed, its still a piece of metal when compared to your life.

When we hear that they deploy at a given speed, it is actually measured g-force equivalent to 35 mph directly into an immobile object. Most people cannot comprehend how much one g-force is, so they came up with the 35 mph figure. It is not an exact measurement.

BTW for what it is worth, the "black boxes" have been challenged in courts all the way to the Supreme Court. Insurance companies were trying to get the info to avoid payouts. The Courts finally decided that since you bought the car, the information within belongs to you and the info would have to be under subpoena in order to get in into Court.

But whoever said that it works only upon airbag deployment is right.

They were originally designed as statisical collectors for futrure airbag design. It is too difficult for automakers to predict every impact and outcome, so real world evidence is best. But they would have to have your permission to get the info.
