MSP sucks at autoX

all of you guys are always quick to defend the car. I've owned the car for 2k miles so far. I'm really trying to love it, but its got serious issues.
I wish i was rich so i could just get rid of this car but i have to keep it longer since the resale vaule totally sucks on this car.

BTW i know i can out drive 99% of the people on this forum.

Well instead of worrying about who can win in a pissing contest....why don't you answer my questions first and then we all will try to evaluate the problem there.
THANKS!

I'd estimate there are at least 10 threads complaining about the MSP for every one praising it. At some point, you have to stick up for the truth.

If you were rich you probably wouldn't have bought the MSP, huh? And the resale value sucks just like every other 1 year old car in the world.

I'm so happy for you. Would you like an award for that achievement?

A guy just like you took out every cone at the finish gate and the timer at our autocross yesterday. And of course, it was the car's fault and had absolutely nothing to do with the driver

Good luck in your quest to get rid of the MSP and conquer the autocross world.

Peace...(hippy)

The car is completely stock.
The I really didn't like the way the power came on. Sometimes it'll come on strong and sometimes it'll bog then start going and sometimes it will just be flat. Car just didin't feel good power wise. That is my opinion, if you like it thats fine.
This is something i didn't notice when daily driving on the streets, but on the autox you can really see that the a/f is not quite right. hell it maybe the expanding intercooler pipes, who knows. All i know is that I just don't feel comfortable driving this car fast on a autox course.
We all have our opinions.

i ignore idiots like you because they will always bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You sure your car was flashed? Like absolutely positive? I've put my car through some autox type driving for quite a while in a parking lot just to practice a few things and it only bogged as described preflash.

My car is flashed and feels smooth with good power around 4k rpm. We all know the car has some issues, but what can you expect from a $20k car (actually $16k is what I paid)?

I've never driven an Evo, but from looking at the dyno plots, it does not look like the power comes very smoothly.

I will give you 3k and my 02 P5 for your MSP  That way you can be out of it, and have a driver, and then go buy an new car

You've had it for 2000 miles & you think you know it well enough to say that it sucks? I've only had mine for just over 4000 now & I know that I still have a lot to learn. Given, I'm no Uber Driver like you  , but I just don't think you can make that claim yet.

What i'm trying to say is that sometimes there is power and sometimes there isn't. I would mash the pedel at one turn and the power would come instantly, at the next turn the car would just stumble then come on at the last sec. Evo and WRX might have some turbo lag but the power is consistant, you know what to expect. On the msp you just gotta hope that the power comes on.

I bought the car for 16k so if anyone wants it i'll let it go for 15k flat with 2kmiles on it. I know the resale for the car isn't great since my black 03 was sitting at the dealer lot for a year and was glad to sell it to me for 16k.

I would have never known about the erratic power delievery at a test drive since i didn't drive it hard at all. If i'd had known i would have never bought the car. I'll just stick to driving it for a few years and selling it down the road. Just to make me more mad about buying the car the swaybar started clunking after the autoX.

If you guys like the way the power delievery of this car you guys have not driven enough good cars. WRX and evo and some of the best examples of turbo power delievery, smooth and predicable.

The Evo's Top Gear Acceleration from 30-50 is almost 2 seconds slower than the MSP's. The Evo is a very impressive car ( I found that out from prefworks this sat.) But if your in a low RPM range the car feels like its being pulled from behind and then once it gets around 4-5K the car explodes. Can't that be hard to deal with while racing, If you drop into a lower gear, increasing the RPM's going through a turn the full force of the turbo is going to kick in and possibly cause you to lose control

Just drove an Auto-x yesterday, and there was plenty of power in the turns. Enough, in fact, to send me on my way to a wonderful 180! :D

THe car will still bog if you have to romp on it at wicked low RPMS, but that's not how you should be driving Auto-X. You should never have to be off the throttle *that* much with this car. At least...that's been my expereience thus far, and this is only my first season. :D

--EDIT--
Like boostisgood said, you're either getting heat soak or you've get a boost leak. I'll bet on the boost leak seeing as though you're from a fairly cool area. Have the dealer check it out...if you're not satisfied with it they should know.

I have no idea why you want to sell your car after only 2000 miles & ONE trip to the auto-x. Give the car a chance & make absolutely certain that it isn't just a vacuum leak or heatsoak before you give up on the car. I think you're overreacting just a bit.

Everyone and their momma says the MSP is an amzing auto-crosser. if this guy hates his car let him get upsidedown in something else. I'm sure he'll find the high wobble of the SRT-4 more pleasing!

you know what, on the power issue, I have to agree with him. sometimes its just not there! Don't get me wrong I love my Speed. I honestly get mad when the mp3 people put us down. But I have had several times when the power was just taking anap or something. I just learned to compensate.

I love the car, build quality is excellent and handling is damn near perfect for a stock fwd car. I have issues with the tuning they did. I'd rather not put another couple grand putting in a intake/hardpipes/intercooler/fuel controller/dyno time to make the car run like it should have from the factory.

Maybe its just my car but it seems to make power when ever it feel like it.

Okay....couple of questions.

Did you have the A/C on??? Did you have the vent turned to defrost???
Flashed twice?
I would really question that!!!
Why twice? Did you still feel a problem after the first time???
Are you sure that they did it right???
Are you sure you don't have a leak???
What guages do you have???
I suggest you get some wideband data as well. It sounds to me that this is not something that is normal.

I would think the msp would be the best autocross for any of the cars out there for under 20 grand. What other car would you even consider that would be worthy for you in autocross?

how much does it cost for autocross anyways??? does it really help you learn how good your car handles??
