MSP Rear Speakers

Hi there,
I just realized that the 2 rear speakers behind the back seat don't sound at all. I can only hear the bass from the sub if I sit at the back seat. It "seems" that there are actually no speakers under the "speaker like" covers. Is this supposingly like that or my rear speakers are blown already? Please advise........

No,,,,the rear speakers are in the doors. Nothing under those grills under your back glass. All is fine (although weird, yes). The only thing I can figure is that our MAZDASPEED back panels are carry overs from the MP3 Protege, but having not seen one up close, I'm not sure.

Thanks for the link. It is very clear now. Thank you.
But I really think the idea of the back side door speakers instead of rear speakers sucks a big time!!

For sound purposes, I'd much rather have a set of 6x9's on the back window instead of the rear doors. The high's bounce off of the glass, and you can hear it really well in the front seats.

But, assuming we can still put a set of 6x9's in those empty Kenwood grills, it's much easier to upgrade those, then having to run cables to the doors for speakers in there.

I wanted to put some speakers in the doors of the MP3, but being lazy and cheap, it wasn't worth the effort. But, when I get the speed, I think I will put some nice 6x9's in those empty grills for sure, and perhaps slap another amp back there for them. Shouldn't be too hard even for lazy ass me. I've already got a 2nd sub ( Thanks to 1st MP3 in NH, great guy! Thanks Dude), so I'm trying to get a total of 10 speakers.... :)

Maybe I should ask in the audio section...........
Has anyone seen if there's room for the speakers now that there is that custom Kenwood enclosure over the back struts? I'm worried there's no room for the Magnets on back of the speakers. Perhaps, this is why they put the speakers in the doors in the 1st place.

yeah I plan on putting another amp and 6x9's in mine as soon as I get it, plus my cap, subs etc... hopefully the trunk will not rattle like crazy like it does on my current sunfire

another point......

when hauling passengers in the rear of the car, whether in a tahoe, mx6, i30, 2.5rs that I have hauled passengers in, if the radio is cranked, it is blaring into the ears of the person in the rear and they cannot only not hear anything else, but it might also be less than desirable

Soundwise it might be better to have the speakers on the rear deck but I kinda like having em in the doors instead.

ill probably add 6x9s at some point but im just sayin for the sake of sayin it...there is a plus to having em in the doors :)

I don't care about the people in the back :)

But your right, and I constantly see it with the MP3. People in the back can't hear a thing from the people up front.
