MSP Rear Brakes How-to?

Is there a how to on how to replace the rear rotor and pads on the MSP? I remember reading a thread saying it's different than the MP3. If someone can explain to me real quick how it's different, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

only difference is the fact that there is no "fake" bolt with allen bolt behind it. to retract the piston into the caliper you need to get a rear piston retractor tool it's basically a square tool, like 5-10 bucks. Also when closing the piston, be sure to align the piston holes with the nipple in the back of the inside pad correctly or it won't go.

Is there a picture of the square tool? So you need the square tool to remove the caliper from the rotor? or to push the piston into the caliper so the new rotors fit? Sorry, I've done the fronts before, but not the rears

Yes there is another thread where I recently posted pictures of the piston and the tool needed to twist it. Look at my recent post you'll find it. I link it for you but, I'm kinda limited using my blackberry.

Awesome, I saw the pics. So taking the caliper off the rotor is no problem. The problem was pushing in the piston? Other than that there is no problem with the install?

Removing the caliper was easy, the piston was the part that I wasn't ready for.

Piston gets turned/screwed clockwise make sure e-brake is off also or you will never get caliper off stupid to mention just know from experience you can use pliers/needle nose also to screw in caliper.

Packerfan is right you cant you a pair of pliers to get a good enough grip to do the job.

Worked pefect on one side, the other side was not spinning so easy. So I went out and bought that little 12$ universal tool.

similar setup to honda prelude rear brakes. i just used a flat head and gave it little taps from a rubber mallet to turn until in all the way. worked fine.

Quick question, did those brake pads come with the springs to hold the pads apart?

I'm glad I looked here today... I am hoping to put my drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads on soon... I wasn't sure about needing that square tool or not.

I am hoping my neighbor has one since he is closer than the parts store!!!

I found a nice little caliper tool kit at Harbor Freight and did mine last night. It has both press and rotate type retractors and was like $30. Not bad if you are going to use it on other cars, too.
