MSP Production Numbers

I pretty much read everything on here before joining. I needed to learn about tuning my car and learned alot here. Just orderd my front and back motor mounts today, exhuast arrives tommorrow. Need to install all that next. Got AWR 88 duromerters. I know about the vibration thing but won't mind. I would love to drive a race car everyday.

You might be ok with it at first, but it gets old pretty quickly. Especially as interior bits start losing their elasticity and start rattling and creaking. I may be more susceptible to noises in the hot dry desert climate, but it will severely lessen the comfort of the car anywhere. It seems like every other weekend I take apart another piece of trim to try to suppress the noises.

I have all inserts now, and it's still a little shaky for my tastes in between 800-900 rpms, but I know the consequences of running the stock mounts by themselves. There is no perfect solution.

Why did you wait 9 years before starting with the mods?

I really did not want to wait 9 years, but when I got my car the payments were $414.00 a month. Probably less comfortable then the soon arriving motor mounts. I was pretty much broke for 6 years. After my mom loosing her job twice, now unemployed, me finding a better paying job, side work as well (carpenter), I work almost everyday and payed off my car after refinancing, now I am here, starting to mod the whip, and make it more exciting to drive. I live in virginia so no desert climate here. The rattles can be cured with the volume knob as well.

Yes the very impressive Kenwood speakers can cure just about every noise the car can make. The only problem is they make other cars' systems sound horrific. They can also mask real issues like wheel bearings failing.

Sorry about the job situation. My advice would be to not go all crazy with the MSP. Put that $414 a month aside for the next car, or if you really want to get into the Protege, buy a second car before doing anything major.

Even something as simple as the mounts, when you have to go out and get an extra extension or you break one trying to do the rear it's nice to be able to jump in your other car or truck to head to the store.

I don't plan on anything major. Just bolt ons, hoping 200 whp, from reading on here it is possible. I might run 8 psi, I need it reliable still. I plan on doing the installs at a friends house, so he will be driving to the store. I usaully listen to my car, next the a curb so it bounces the noise to me. Only sounds I have that recently started is moise when I turn the wheel at a stop or really low speeds. Noise a squeek, but a rubbing noise. I believe I need my suspension and things lubricated. I thought of getting another car but it would be a cheap slow honda.

type your vin number in google would be the quickest way........or you could go to the very 1st post in this thread. Either way would work.

BOOM.

This is where separate bank accounts helps. She doesn't know what I spend on the cars, and I don't know what she spends on decorations and furniture. We've learned not to ask as well.
