Well i have always had loud clunking from suspension but i think its just because the bushings are bad..

The one thing that bothers me is that the car in cold morning starts well have a loud clunk and thumping sound coming from the timing belt area, Now i think and believe its most likely the timing belt but before i rip stuff off to look, any of you guys got any other idea of what it might be from past experience?

The sound goes away after the car warms up and i just wanna know if anyone elses does that cause it doesnt sound like a basic car start up haha. Any help would be appriciated, THanks!

clunk usually shows itself in the rear.
i suppose its possible you have front clunk from either the bushings or worn out end links though.
thats all i can think of.

well let me rephrase, the clunk and tickin sound is when im idle at a cold startup, hince, its not suspension, the first was the suspension but the clunk and thump sound is from the timing belt itself i think, which is why i was hoping someone knew if something else in that area would do that if it was cold, or if its deff the timing belt.

the ticking is a common cold startup sound.
you should be able to find other threads on it. i have the same noise, and did enough reading to convince
myself that it was normal and not to worry about it.
but if you find anything else out you can post it here, i would also be interested

I had the tickin noise and it was a loose exhaust mani. i would remove the heat shiled and check it. one bolt had actually fallen out.

yeah check your bolts on the exhaust mani. i know 2 different speeds around here that had that problem maybe a year ago.

noticed the exhaust mani was cracked in two spots, could this be a huge cause in my noise?

My manifold is cracked all over the place. I am yet to see any indication that exhaust gases are leaking through. I have cracks like those but I don't think they are leaking exhaust gases due to the lack of carbon deposits on outer surface/ no discoloration of heatshield. I think all msp manifolds are going to crack. Hell....the liberty bell cracked too and it still works
