How much did you guys (and gals) pay in tax and registration fees? I'm getting all my finances together in preparation for the 2003.5 model and I'd like to know how much that stuff is going to cost me. Thanks

I got my MSP for $20,500(one dealership wanted $23,500, the bastards!!)
Sales tax was $1,592.24
License fee(estimated) $178
CA tire fee $5.00

**Keep in mind that the 2003.5 is a little more expensive**

I live in Sac too, and I go to Motorsport Dynamics...Get them to give me a deal on my front mount intercooler!!

Hey, if it's possible, I'd love to take a ride in your MSP sometime (since the dealers arent about to let me test one w/o buying it). Also, where did you go to buy your MSP? I've got a friend who owns a dealership, who will sell one to me at MSRP, but his dealership is in LA.

Unfortunately, Motorsports may not be around much longer. The current owners are tired of running it and they are getting beaten into the ground from the bad economy and cheaper internet-based stores. I am involved, however, in a project that may reinvigorate motorsports or may live on after they close their doors for the last time. I don't want to get ahead of myself but we're working toward developing an online store that specializes in high-end, hard-to-get parts (that's where motorsport's connections come into play) with it's emphasis on aggressively seeking group buys. Don't get your hopes up though cause like I said, we are still in the planning stages and there is a very good chance it may not ever happen.

Thanks for the info

Would love to meet with both of you. We're looking for MSP guys interested in working with a shop geared towards the marketting of JDM parts on the proteges.

Peace, Rishie

We're in San Jose. Not too far away. WE got one of our guys up there. You should meet. He's got some dope ass suspension and is a great guy.

Well, how should we go about getting together?? I'm all for it, and I got a bunch of guys that'll be down to kick it. I'm somehere around Sac everyday, so let's get something going.

I've emailed the guy who is working with me on the online store concept to let him know about this possible new development. The online store is really his project and he has asked me to help him with it. I'll let you guys know what he has to say as soon as I hear from him. Later

P.S. 2K3 MSP, where did you buy your MSP? Thanks

Option,
I purchased my MSP at Stockton Mazda. They had 2 in stock. One on the showroom and one was the test drive model. Im sure when they get the 03.5's they will have another test drive car. The sales men are very cool about letting you drive the car. If you plan on buying it there either walk in with a check or be prepared for a battle! The finance guys are a bit ruff.
Also after tax and all, my price came to 22,3xx.00

Hey Julio...did you buy the black one?? When I bought mine, they had 2 black ones. One to test drive, and the other they traded to another dealer to get my Spicy Orange one. I tried a week earlier to get an Orange one, but the finance guy "ruffed" me up a little too...It got sold that afternoon. It's all good though, cause I still got it, and it had less miles on it.

i got my car at stockton mazda too.. who was your sales person? I got mine from Sar Hem.. great guy.. if your heading to stockton u might wanna look for him -=)
The finance guy or the closer was rude to me too. he wouldnt even let me test drive the car until i proved i had a cosigner.. uGh.. horrible.. it was funny they tried to say my dad couldnt afford a p5 even though he bought his lincoln ls there and we drove up there in his 02 zo6 vette.. loosers.

My buddy David works in the parts department at Stockton Mazda, so we got to test drive the MSP with just a copy of our drivers licenses. My salesman, the guy whot test drove with us, was Manu. He is hella cool. He said if I gave him good marks on his survey, he would hook me up with free gas. Overall, I was pleased with the way I was treated when I actually had the money, but the first time, they didn't even want to talk to me...Supposedly thery got another Spicy Orange Protege last week...Hopefully it goes to a good home.

I had a meeting tonight with Kieth, the guy who is setting up the online store, and the possible third party who will help with the initial design of the site. We are now all on the same page and ready to start work on the project as soon as we get the green light from Motorsport Dynamics. Kieth is meeting with Ed and Henry (MD owners) next week and if all goes well we should have the contract and deposit to start working by the following week. If not then we may try to market the idea to other distributors. I am pushing for us to do a "pilot run" with a couple of products (hopefully a JIC exhaust since I've seen a lot of interest for that on this forum) to see how things go. I'll keep whoever is interested posted. Later

2k3/ John
Yeah I bought the black one. I guess they received more than I thought. I looked at and drove mine for a week before buying it. 2 black ones were there the whole time. The showroom car was sold the day before i bought mine. He lives in town too. At the time they said a Spicy was coming but it was already sold.
The main finance guy or whatever he is , is a total jerk! He didnt smile and had an attitude from the get go. I caught him adding an extra 3% to my tab. So i get pissed and turn on my "defensive/ asshole mode" and literally chase him away. He hands me off to Brian the other finance or whatever guy. !00% improvent. Very nice and professional but still a salesman. Manu was my salesman too. Way cool dude.
Ive used to practically live at the parts dept @ stockton. I dont know david but I usually work with John . Awesome guy.
You guys ever plan on going to Sac Raceway? Im a bit curious what I'll run.

I am dying for Sac Raceway to open....I need to take both my cars out there. My buddy David started there about 3 months ago, but I'm not sure exactly what he's been doing the whole time..I know he was delivering parts for a while.

I want to go as soon as it opens. I want to get the boost controller, turbo timer, and BOV first, but that might not happen till next month. Do you know when the track is scheduled to open??

Hey cool to see people from Stockton and Sacramento active on the boards here! I am from Stockton, but I didn't buy my p5 at Mazda of Stockton, I got it at Modesto Mazda. The sales people there are great. I was at Stockton Mazda on Friday (3/7) getting my oil changed and all that stuff, and I was test driving the 6 and was playing around with the orange MSP in the showroom, very nice indeeed That color is amazing!!
