MSP on C&D TV

I don't have the hardware to capture it. Sorry.

They liked the increased power and handling. They said the ride quality suffered as much as the handling improved. They did not like the Spicy Orange or seats. They complained of torque stear.

They said it was fun to drive, though :)

Gee, not surprised there. Car and Driver = bunch of old farts. Did they complain about the Stereo being too hard to use?

x

did they show the car doing the 1/4 mile at all and hear how the car sounds? im curious about that? if its on at 1230 tomorrow by u im in ny so i think its on at 930?

Yea they showed it but you couldnt hear it. It hit 15.4 at 91mph... The article was basically them bitching about how they didnt like anything the car had.

I heard when they (C&D TV) reviewed the SRT-4 they compared the two a lot and gave many compliments to the MSP. They said if you want to go fast in a straight line, buy the Neon, but if you want something that's fun and you could drive every day, buy the MSP.

The MSP ride is fine. I just got mine and guess what? It's softer than my 300zx twin turbo around town. But it handles better in the corners! Lighter car, changes direction faster.

Don't be afraid of the suspension beating you up. It won't, it's quite comfortable around town. Racing Beat used big sway bars and relatively soft springs to get a nice ride that really handles. And boy, does it handle!

One of the problems they sited was torque steer ??? Isn't that an unavoidable problem with front wheel drive cars ? Im sure if the interior was covered in leather, included a set of driving gloves and was about 10K more they would have liked it more.

Well, I just seen it, and it's basically just a rehash of the crappy review they gave it in their Magazine months ago. And, if you noticed, the car is the same Pre-prototype car that was going around back in Sept/oct( Notice the MAzdaspeed banner).

I drove the car, the torque steer is a joke compared to other cars that are turbo'd. And they said the interior of the car looks "low rent". They didn't like the black and silver accents. To each is own I guess, but the interior of the car is one of the nicest I've ever seen in a small car. I've only had GREAT compliments from people geting rides in the MP3 about the seats, look and feel. And the fit and finish surpasses any other small car I've been in, including Honda.

Their comment about the color seemed to be that it attracted too much attention. They even said the same thing about the styling, which is funny, because they loved the styling of the MP3.....which is the same car. A$$holes.

The show is just another reason why I cancelled my subscription to Car and Driver

Can't make no promises, very busy today, and not feeling we at all, but I'll try to capture the C & D show and put it on the ole ftp.

I agree , Car & Driver are a bunch of dryed up old farts who think that if a car doesn't have leather and GPS standard then it isn't worth buying. They only give kudos to the high-end market,( bmw,merc.,cadillac,ferrari,etc.). They don't understand we will sacrifice ride for handling anyday!

Thing is, the ride ain't that bad! I had an Audi A6 before this and the other car in our household is a Town & Country and there is no way this feels like a skateboard. They should compare it to other cars in its class and consider the target audience.... there again they consider their audience who probably dream about unreachable Bentleys and all own V8's with leather.

funny, I had my car in for the typical monthly bushing repair :), and they gave me a 16 month old corrola......my mp3 was actually smoother over bumps....REALLY, I'm not kidding, even the woman said so without me mentioning it.

Newf, seriously, how often do you actually get these bushings replaced? I'm hoping you're exaggerating...

I know you've said when the bushings are bad they really affect handling, and I really don't want to be in the shop every 4 weeks during the autox season.
