MSP is a POS!

:
'03 Black Mica MSP
I'm tired of coming up with excuses for what is probably the poorest excuse for a car in my life. I thought that the Ford Taurus was the ultimate POS but not anymore.

15K- Rotors warped.
55K- LSD went out (5% failure rate and no recall??)
56K- Tranny oil leak from above

Now dealer tells me that my wastegate is malfunctioning ($650), my engine mounts are cracking, and my valve cover gasket is starting to leak. He also told me a couple of other things but I stopped hearing anything. I have no mods on my car nor have I ever raced it. I do drive fast, after all, it's supposed to be a "performance" car but I don't dog it. I've gotten oil changes when I'm supposed to and the only person who's touched my car is the dealership.

Now, at 55,000 miles, it's practically falling apart. This is the last mother phukking Mazda I ever buy. My brother-in-law has a Mazda6 and at 15k miles, had to have his manual transmission rebuilt as well.

Mazda has now taken over as the worst excuse for a car manufacturer. As soon as I get my car back I'm trading it in for a real car-- Toyota.

If you find this post a little harsh and hard to believe, just wait. There were very few of these cars made and there are getting to be fewer and fewer on the road for a reason.

good luck and later.

Honestly none of that except maybe the tranny leak and valve cover gasket are a suprise to me.

no not any car. this car sucks. traded-in mine today, @55k miles. they gave me almost $9k. sell it while you can my friend, and that's as genuine of advice that i will ever give

59k miles....had the waste gate replaced under warranty...otherwise no issues.

Wow, ok I haven't had the trouble you had.......yet lol, but I do agree with you. Toyota #1 FTW

Honestly, I won't buy another Mazda either....mainly because of the way my dealer treated me. All because of one idiot service advisor or whatever you call them.

The next car I get, I'm starting at the service departement then work my way towards the show room.

Hmm, are u the black msp i see at Frys electronics in webster at times?? I may even think the owner works there.

From what you've stated, most just seem like bad maintenance or treatment from your part. Anywayz, good luck on your next venture.....

Maybe your car was built on a Friday?????

sorry but thats a stupid way to buy a car. buy a car you love not a person who isnt mean to you on first appearence. but im sorry about your misfortunes, i'd sell it too if i was having your problems. i think with the msp its either win or lose, people seem to either have all the problems or none at all. im passing 55k running 10psi and havn't had any lsd problems or any other problems with it besides those dam sway bar bushings. but that sucks man better luck with your next ride.

Yeah clearly you really mistreated the car.. warped rotors at 15k?? it's not like the rotors warp from being horrendously undersized for the car, they're pretty beefy.

The LSD? lots of people have no issues with theirs.

650 for a malfunctioning wastegate? I think protegegarage has the oem wastegate (adjustable one, not the one that fails if I recall correctly) for about 300 dollars.

I'm sorry, I just honestly don't believe that you maintained the car at all. If I was having those problems, I'd get rid of my protege too. I'm at 78500 miles, without any problems that I didn't cause through my mods.

42,000 miles, 14+psi, stock tires...I have a clunk and creeky front suspension.

The MSP isn't the most solid car but those who treat it right don't end up with the major problems.

And to write off Mazda because you had bad luck with a cheap car after beating on it is pretty, well...unfair is the nicest word I can come up with.

I wouldn't buy another MSP, but Mazda will still be in my considerations for my next car.

If none of this is covered under any type of warranty and you are paying dealer prices instead of shopping around, I would be pissed at myself too. Sorry to hear that you are having such a bad experience, but there are MANY people who haven't had any issues. Just because you got a bad car doesn't mean Mazda is crap.

werd, that kinda sucks. He's not the only one who just joined here to b****.

I joined here because I bought a really freakin fun car and was like "hmm wonder if there's a protege5.com".. clearly there was, and almost 3 years later here I still am. still loving my car more and more each day :)

I didnt have a single problem with mine either other than the usually creaks and groans, but i was very scared something would happen, so instead of worrying i just tradded mine in as well. That was the major deciding factor to move on. But I still love that car and love the new one as well.

I know it's sounds stupid but I did buy the car that I love. I always buy a car or anything that I like or strikes me. What I will do in the future, is pay more attention to the service area and the garage. Find a place I find is clean and organized....just take 10 minutes to watch how they roll.

My luck, I bought my car at the smallest and busiest Mazda dealer in town and 3/4 of the mechanics were rookies. They would park customer cars on a busy streets and take a day and half to change my oil and stupid sway bar bushings. I'm just gonna do more research in that regard.

Seems as though your mind is set. Sell the car, move on, and kwitcherbitchin.

weld ur lsd, change the gaskets, upgrade to better goodies and you set

like everyone says:

cheap
reliable
fast

choose two

I just put in a new motor and I am happy as ever with the car, but when s*** goes broken on these things it just really pisses you off. I think you should jut upgrade to fix the minor issues and enjoy your car. This car really is one of a kind, the driving experience is great once you get the quirks sorted out.
