MSP in Canada

I am looking seriously into purchasing the MazdaSpeed Protege. I really like the black though and the dealerships are telling me that only orange is available in Canada. Is there anyway I can get a black in from the US if I am planning on leasing? Are the dealers, if pushed enough, able to do anything?

Also if I do only have the orange as an option. How does the orange look in person?

I also really like the titanium 2003.5 but I need a car immediately. Would dealerships be able to lease me a 2003 and then let me continue the lease with a 2003.5 when they arrive in the summer? Is there a way to swing this?

Thanks for your help.
Peace.
Jon

No dealer will import a black MSP. Too many headaches. You wouldn't clear the red tape until the 2003.5's come out anyway.
You can lease an (orange) 2003 until the 2003.5's come out, then lease one of those. There will be a big penalty to pay though.
Talk to your dealer, but remember: they don't have to be too flexible on these cars since demand is so high.

Jonny, there are a bunch of threads about the orange colour in the mazdaspeed section of the forum. Have a look there, instead of asking everyone to re-write all their posts.

Your other questions should be addressed to your local Mazda dealer. Grimace has probably summed up the likely responses, though.

Why can't you buy the car in the USA and drive it over the bridge?? There must be documentation online regarding the process, import duties etc.

The orange is nice though

Its not impossible, but it is difficult. It is definately not as easy as that.
Keep in mind how much of a hit he'll take on the exchange rate too. $20500 U.S. = $31724 Canadian (at this exact moment). Thats $4725 more than just getting an orange one.

The real question is, is black worth almost five grand more?
