MSP Help! Rough idle and loss of power

Do you think thay the plugs I have are just bad quality there just the ngk 3$ a piece ones. What plugs should I get I wanted to gwt some that were gaped already. Are the bosch platinium fusion any good or should I just get the ngk pre gaped?

Did you replace both coil packs, both wires AND both 'boots' that attach to the bottom of the coil pack? I'm assuming you would replace the plugs when changing coils but if you didn't that is the problem. Get NGK ZFR6F-11 plugs and gap them to .028-.032".

Don't get anything but NGK ZFR6F-11 plugs which are the OEM plugs for this car. NGKs are gapped at .044" for a N/A car, they MUST be gapped for the MSP.
IF YOU DO NOT GAP THE PLUGS YOU WILL GET A MISFIRE!!!

'Tis true. I was having a terribly bad idle problem too ended up being coils/plugs.

Would that explain the bad acceleration? When tje car warms up?

Yes, if you just bought plugs at the store and installed them without gapping them correctly the car won't run right. The spark blows out because the plug gap is too wide for F/I.

Update: changed the plugs out with the correct gaping. Still want to idle low only when at a complete stop. Still hesitates to accelerate at random times now. Usually only with a slow build up. Going to try and clean the iac still and put my new fuel filter and see. If thse other two things don't work I'm not sure what will.

It aslso looked the first two plugs from left to right had more whit coloring and more burnt but not much of a difference.

How old is your battery?

i'm telling you changing the screen inside the fuel pump will do absolutely nothing to the way your car runs, i've worked on mazda's for 4 years at a dealer i've yet to see a single fuel pump screen plugged, mazda's or not. if you think you have a fuel pressure issue, check fuel pressure with a gauge instead of throwing money and random parts at it.

The maf was cleaned and not sure about the battery but I had my battery and alt fixed checked and they were. Good. But my lights still dim when I pull on my windows or stuff like that. Alright I trust you about that filter screen.

link isn't working, if your really worried about your fuel pressure, hook up a gauge to it would be cheaper and easier with alot less chance of screwing things up.
what you really need to do is find someone with a scan tool (one of those 300 dollar ones from oreilly's will work, thats what i use at home pretty much) and let us know what, your ect, maf, map, iat, long and short term fuel trims read, that will help us help you figure this thing out without replacing everything underhood.

I am surprised no one has mentioned this: I have had many a issues with my MSP and one of them has been a re-occurring rough idle at stops when the car is warm. I clean my EGR and it fixes my issue. I have a routine now for when my car starts to do this, change the oil/sparkplugs(gapping them appropriately), remove the egr and let it sit in Brake cleaner then go at it with a firm wire brush that is very small(I use a barrel cleaning plug from a 20ga shotgun, you could use pipe cleaners or a small toothbrush). Then I give the car a seafoam treatment 1/3 bottle into gas tank before you fill up the tank and a 1/3 bottle into the IM(Intake manifold), I use the brake booster line for suction. There are a lot of threads about the EGR clean and the seafoam treatment. Sometimes, if I am lazy or my oil/plugs are fine, I will just clean the EGR and it cleans up my idle. Hope this helps!

you are right, egr's are notorious to sticking open AND closed, i've cleaned mine twice and replaced it once, not to count hundreds of times I did it at the dealer.

I was rereading your original post, you said you just had the timing belt replaced? If so who did it? you might want to recheck the timing if it started doing it after it got changed.

Cam sensor bad? Are you absolutely sure you got the plug wires going to the right plugs/coil leads?

yes i did and my friend did it who is a honda certified mechanic and works on all types of cars. he said it was spot on. the old belt that was on there was strectched and skipped teeth. But if it wasnt't right would it do the same thing even if the car was cold? because the car runs normal before it warms up.

should i get break cleaner or carb and choke cleaner?
