Update:
Okay, my enthusiasm about the upcoming build is growing after reading the big news today from the MPI camp. Dean's MSP put down some serious numbers, and he is running a similar setup to my plans.
I have added the A'PEXi filter to my setup, and I have ordered the internals, clutch, flywheel, turbo, turbo back, turbo manifold, radiator, slim fans, and new gauges. I still need to get going on the studs, bearings, gaskets, and other needed stuff for the engine rebuild.
My plan is to get the manifold and exhaust on there and tune the car with the stock turbo at 16psi before changing the turbo and internals. I want to see what this thing can do on the stock stuff before I remove it.
The MPI tuner is working great. There have been a couple of software upgrades and a wiring fix since I last posted an update, and the new setup is even better than it was before. I can now control the switch from closed to open loop based on RPM, throttle position, AMP, and TEMP... 4 switches instead of 1. This has dramatically improved the ease of tuning, I now feel confident enough with the software to turn up the boost and go for some big numbers.
