MSP getting some more upgrades!!!

Sure you could....it's plastic pipes....

What do you mean re-work the turbo? Change the turbines or something? Newbie to turbos <-----

All I can tell you is when my car came off the truck from the port I did a 150ft. burnout through the lot and decided this one was mine. It had 136 the first run down the track (40 miles to the track). I now have well over 300 quarter mile passes and almost 12k. on it... hasn't broke yet. (yes I am knocking on wood)

Yea, I guess you are right about the intake.

Talk to MPNick. He reworked Dean's stock turbo and can give you much better info than I could. I do know that it basically involves some port and polish, changing the wheels and possibly the center section.

I'm not talking about wether or not I should drive the car hard during the break in for the turbo, I mean should I limit how much i turn up the MBC.;)

Deans the one with the 320+whp MSP right? It sounds expensive.....hhmmm port and polish.....shiny.

Yes, that is Dean.

I bet you could get Nick to do yours for less than the price of a new GT28RS.:)

Be careful....I know you would be heartbroken if you blew the motor. You would then proceed to cry in the corner while the srt-4 people threw jello at you. You wouldn't want that would you?

I think you will be fine, you seem to know the line on driving a car hard, and being stupid. See how much it can take before you bend some connecting rods.

Out of curiosity what's your gas mileage in the city? (before the new turbo, unless you've already gone thru a tank) :)

I haven't actually done the math for awhile, but I am still getting about 320ish on a full tank... unless I am running hard for the weekend. I have seen as low as 180 on a weekend that I did a lot of hard pulling. (freak)

lol, yea, we wouldn't want that.

I think you might be forgetting that I ran my turbo into the ground before the motor. 3 weekends in a row I was running almost 20psi and the motor is still holding strong. I think that says a lot about my style of tuning the car very "safe" by running mega timing retard and low 10's for AFR. It might not be as fast as it could be on a more agressive tune, but it has kept my car on the road for this long so I think I will stick with it.

I agree with Nick a lot about this subject, he says that a better way to get power is with more boost and less timing rather than lower boost and more timing.

mmmmm 20psi.... I ran 18psi once and I heard rocks being thrown at the motor, never did find out who was throwing them.... lol.

Yeah I totally agree with that phil. and it seems to be holding true. I think its cause your cars Black Mica...

Haha, the only time I ever heard that noise was when I was having trouble getting the MPI set up on my car back in the beginning. It was only at 7psi though.

Lol, black mica pwns. (upyours)

(rofl) just read through all the updates, you guys crack me up.

20psi on the disco ownz... lol

What octane do you have there in New Mexico anyway? 91 or are you lucky enough to get something higher?

Just wait till you get your forged internals in there, then you can really turn the boost up. I think the Mazda God's smiled on you Rich and gave you the super, amazing, tough as nails, block.

Yea, can't wait. They didn't give me a strong block though, they gave me some freak rods me thinks.:)

I think it was around $500 or so, but not 100% sure. He did a PP on the turbo and mani along with the 28 comp wheel. Not sure if that was it, you would need to talk to him on that. His turbo is good to 24psi now, but he had to get a stronger wastegate spring to do that, the stocker wouldn't let him hold 18psi.

13psi now and LOVING life. This turbo is amazing. It puts me back in the seat so much quicker and stronger than the stocker ever did. Boost is hitting the target on my gauge before 2500, and it is holding strong all the way to redline.

The symphony of sound coming from it is quite pleasing as well.:) It has a sweet loud whistling sound starting at about 1500 and ending at about 2500, followed by the same sort of sucking sound that the stock turbo had. The BOV note has changed slightly, it doesn't have as much of the high pitched chirp right at the beginning of the release... it is now more of a solid whoosh.

Just thought I would share my 1 week impressions, I will probably stop at 15psi and run that untill the internals go in.
